International Name - Macrogol Pharmacological Group: Preparations affecting the tone and motility of the colon Indication: The preparation is used for the symptomatic treatment of constipation in adults and children aged 8 years and above. Dosage and Administration: Take orally Treatment regimen: 1-2 sachets per day (preferably once a day, in the morning). Consult your doctor regarding the duration of treatment. In case of temporary constipation associated with lifestyle changes (surgery, travel, etc.), short-term use of the preparation is recommended. It is necessary to dissolve each sachet in one glass of water. Take before or during meals. Macrogol's effect will be observed 24-48 hours after administration. In children, treatment should not exceed 3 months due to the lack of clinical data. The daily dose should be adapted according to the clinical effect and may range from one sachet (especially in children) to 2 sachets. Side Effects: In adults, high doses may cause diarrhea, which will stop 24-48 hours after discontinuation of the preparation. After this, the preparation can be continued at lower doses. Abdominal pain may occur, especially in patients with functional disorders. Allergic reactions are very rare - rash, urticaria, swelling. Report any adverse reactions, including those not listed here, to your doctor. In children, side effects may include diarrhea and abdominal pain, rarely nausea, vomiting, and bloating. Unlike adults, increased sensitivity reactions have not been observed in children. Side effects disappear immediately with a reduction in the dose of the preparation. Overdose: Overdose causes diarrhea, which disappears immediately upon discontinuation of treatment or dose reduction. It may be necessary to restore electrolyte balance due to fluid loss during diarrhea or vomiting. Contraindications: Inflammatory diseases of the stomach (ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease), complete or partial intestinal obstruction, abdominal pain of unknown origin, hypersensitivity to polyethylene glycol. Warnings: Do not take the preparation for a prolonged period without consulting a doctor. In case of constipation accompanied by abdominal pain, high temperature, or gastrointestinal bleeding, consult a doctor. Special Warnings: Does not contain sugar, can be prescribed to patients with diabetes mellitus, as well as patients whose diet does not include galactose. Drug treatment should be carried out against the background of a diet, the diet should be increased in fiber-containing products (greens, raw vegetables, wholemeal bread, fruits), it is necessary to consume enough water, and increase physical activity (sports, walking). Pregnancy and Lactation: The preparation can be prescribed during pregnancy only under medical supervision.
