What is it?
International Nonproprietary Name - fosfolipids Clinical-pharmacological group: Antibacterial agents → Antibiotics of the phosphonic acid derivative group Composition 1 sachet contains active substance – fosfomycin trometamol 3.754g or 5.631g (equivalent to 2.0g or 3.0g fosfomycin); Excipients: mandarin flavor, orange flavor, saccharin, sucrose. Description: White granules with a mandarin scent Indications • Acute bacterial cystitis, exacerbation of recurrent bacterial cystitis; • Bacterial non-specific urethritis; • Asymptomatic bacteriuria during pregnancy; • Post-operative infections of the urinary tract; • Prevention of urinary tract infections during surgical interventions and transurethral diagnostic examinations. Dosage and Administration Oral administration. Granules are dissolved in 1/3 cup of water. Monural is taken once a day, 2 hours before or 2 hours after meals, before bedtime, with an empty bladder. Adults are prescribed 1 sachet (3g) once a day. For the prevention of urinary tract infections during surgical interventions and transurethral diagnostic procedures, a double dose of Monural is required: 3 hours before surgical or diagnostic intervention and 24 hours after the intervention. Children aged 5 to 18 years are prescribed 2g once a day. The course of treatment is 1 day. In severe cases (elderly patients, recurrent infections), repeat 1 sachet after 24 hours. In case of renal insufficiency, the dose is reduced and the interval between doses is increased. Side Effects Gastrointestinal system (nausea, heartburn, diarrhea), skin rash, allergic reactions. Contraindications Individual hypersensitivity to fosfomycin trometamol, severe renal insufficiency (creatinine clearance < 10 ml/min), age under 5 years. Pregnancy and Lactation During pregnancy, the drug is prescribed when the potential benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk of adverse effects on the fetus. When prescribing the drug during lactation, it is recommended to discontinue breastfeeding until the end of the treatment course. Special Instructions Taking with food reduces the absorption of the drug – it is necessary to take it 2 hours before or 2 hours after meals. Patients with diabetes mellitus should consider that 1 sachet of 2g and 3g doses contain 2.100g or 2.213g of sucrose, respectively.
