What is it?
International Name - nystatineFormula: Funistatin powder for oral suspension, each 1 ml contains 100,000 units of nystatin; as preservatives; sodium benzoate, methylparaben, propylparaben, as sweeteners: sodium saccharin, sugar, banana flavor and alcohol.Indications: Funistatin oral suspension is indicated for the prevention and treatment of candidal infections of the mouth, esophagus, and intestines. The suspension is used in newborns born to mothers with vaginal candidiasis for effective prevention of oral candidiasis.Contraindications: Funistatin oral suspension is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation.Special Instructions: Funistatin oral suspension contains sugar. Funistatin oral suspension is not used for the treatment of systemic mycoses.Pregnancy and Lactation: Pregnancy Category C. No reproductive studies have been conducted with nystatin in animals. It is not known whether nystatin causes adverse effects on the fetus when used in pregnant women. Nystatin is prescribed during pregnancy only if the potential benefit outweighs the possible risk. Lactation: Although gastrointestinal absorption is negligible, it is not known whether nystatin is excreted in breast milk, and therefore caution is advised when prescribing nystatin to nursing mothers.Effect on ability to drive and operate machinery: Not known.Side Effects: Nystatin is practically non-toxic and well tolerated by all age groups, even with prolonged use. High doses may rarely cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Consult your doctor if you notice any adverse events.Dosage and Administration: Neonates: Use 2 ml 4 times daily (200,000 units of nystatin). 1 ml of 2 ml is used on one side of the mouth, the remaining 1 ml on the other side. 1 ml four times a day is effective in the treatment of premature or weak infants. Children and Adults: Use 4-6 ml 4 times daily (400,000-600,000 units of nystatin). Half of the dose is used on one side of the mouth, the remainder on the other. It is recommended to hold the preparation in the mouth for as long as possible and then swallow. Treatment with Funistatin oral suspension should continue for 48 hours after the disappearance of oral symptoms and normalization of flora.Preparation of Suspension: Add boiled and cooled water to half of the bottle up to the marked line (1/2), shake and let it stand. Fill the bottle up to the marked line with boiled and cooled water. Close the cap, shake for 20 minutes and use. Funistatin oral suspension is stored in tightly closed bottles in the refrigerator, protected from light, and used within 10 days. Unused portion should be discarded after 10 days.Overdose: Since the absorption of nystatin from the gastrointestinal tract is negligible, overdose or accidental ingestion does not cause systemic toxicity.Storage Conditions: Store at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. The suspension is stored in the refrigerator for 10 days. Keep out of reach of children.
