What is it?
International Nonproprietary Name - fusidic acid Clinical-pharmacological group: Ophthalmology → Antibacterial agents for topical use Dosage form Eye drops Description: Viscous homogeneous suspension of white or almost white color. Composition 1 g of the preparation contains: Active substance: Fusidic acid (in the form of hemihydrate) 10.0 mg. Excipients: Disodium edetate, Mannitol, Carbomer 940, Trometamol, Benzalkonium chloride, Water for injections. Pharmacotherapeutic group Antimicrobial agent for topical use in ophthalmology. Indications for use Bacterial eye infections caused by microorganisms sensitive to the preparation: - Conjunctivitis - Blepharitis - Keratitis - Dacryocystitis Method of administration and dosage For topical use. Shake the eye drops before use. Adults and children are instilled with Futarone, one drop in each eye (conjunctival sac) every 12 hours for 7 days. If there is no effect within 7 days of starting treatment, Futarone should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted. Contraindications Hypersensitivity to fusidic acid or other components of the preparation. Side effects From the organ of vision: in rare cases – allergic reactions: itching, burning, conjunctival hyperemia, pain, tearing, eyelid edema, exacerbation of conjunctivitis. Special instructions The preparation in the form of eye drops is not intended for intravitreal injections! If any signs of hypersensitivity appear, the use of the preparation should be discontinued. It is not recommended to wear contact lenses during the period of Futarone use, as its components can cause lens clouding. Effect on the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery Patients who temporarily lose visual acuity after using the preparation should avoid potentially hazardous activities that require increased attention and speed of psychomotor reactions.
