What is it?
Before taking the medicine, read the instructions carefully as it contains important information for the patient. This medicine is always taken according to the instructions, your doctor, pharmacist, or nurse. If you do not feel better, or if you feel worse after 15 days, you should consult your doctor. Composition: The active substances are famotidine 10mg, magnesium hydroxide 165mg, and calcium carbonate 800mg. Other substances are: dextrates, sodium starch glycolate, sodium cyclamate, mint flavor, magnesium stearate, pregelatinized starch, and corn starch. Indication: Gastroprotect is a combination of three active substances: famotidine, used to reduce stomach acid, and two widely used antacids (stomach acid reducers) - calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide. Gastroprotect is intended to relieve symptoms of dyspepsia or stomach hypersensitivity. The combined product Gastroprotect works in two ways: calcium carbonate and magnesium hydroxide work by rapidly neutralizing excess acids already produced in the stomach, while famotidine has a more continuous effect for up to 12 hours by reducing acidity, preventing the secretion of stomach acids. The optimal combination of these two actions effectively maintains normal acidity in the stomach, allowing the irritated and inflamed stomach lining to heal. Gastroprotect is used for short-term symptomatic treatment of irritation and inflammation of the esophagus, stomach, and duodenum, and in functional secretory disorders of the stomach: to relieve stomach discomfort: stomach acidity, heartburn, pain, heaviness in the stomach, bloating, nausea, etc. due to excessive production of gastrointestinal acids, in case of acute and chronic gastritis, acid reflux, including reflux caused by improper diet, alcohol abuse, and smoking or certain medications. Hyperchlorhydria of gastric juice. Dyspepsia (non-ulcer). Recommended dose: For adults and adolescents over 16 years of age. To relieve symptoms, chew one whole tablet. Do not swallow the whole chewable tablet. For prevention of heartburn, chew one tablet 15-60 minutes before eating or drinking anything other than water that may cause dyspepsia. Do not exceed the daily dose of two chewable tablets. The duration of treatment is 2 weeks; this medicine should not be taken for more than two weeks. Contraindications: If you are allergic to famotidine, magnesium hydroxide, calcium carbonate, or any of the other ingredients in this medicine. If you are allergic to other acid-reducing preparations (e.g., ranitidine, cimetidine, etc.); if you have kidney failure; children and adolescents under 16 years of age should not take Gastroprotect; if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Children and adolescents: Children and adolescents under 16 years of age should not take Gastroprotect. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, and fertility: If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant, or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. You should consider the benefits and risks of treatment in combination with Gastroprotect. Famotidine may pass into breast milk in small amounts. Magnesium salts can also pass into breast milk, causing diarrhea in newborns. For this reason, it is recommended that mothers stop breastfeeding when using this medicine. Storage: Store at no more than 25C, out of reach of children, in the original packaging. Do not use this medicine after the expiry date which is stated on the box. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month.
