In the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, the drug is used only in cases of urgent necessity. ATC code: G01AF20 Pharmacological properties Pharmacodynamics Gynotran Forte L vaginal suppositories contain miconazole nitrate with antifungal action, metronidazole with antimicrobial and antitrichomonal action, and lidocaine with local anesthetic action. Miconazole nitrate is a synthetic imidazole group preparation with a broad spectrum of action, particularly active against pathogenic fungal agents, including Candida albicans, and is also effective against Gram-positive bacteria. Miconazole nitrate inhibits the synthesis of ergosterol in the fungal cell membrane. In vitro studies have shown that miconazole alters the permeability of the fungal cell wall and reduces the cell's demand for glucose. Metronidazole is a 5-nitroimidazole derivative antimicrobial and antiprotozoal agent, active against Trichomonas vaginalis, Gardnerella vaginalis, and anaerobic bacteria (including anaerobic streptococci). Lidocaine has a local anesthetic effect, stabilizes the neuron membrane, and blocks impulse transmission. Metronidazole, miconazole, and lidocaine are not synergists or antagonists. Indications for use - Vulvovaginal candidiasis caused by Candida albicans - Bacterial vaginosis caused by Gardnerella vaginalis and anaerobic bacteria - Trichomonal vaginitis caused by Trichomonas vaginalis - Vaginitis caused by mixed infections Contraindications - Hypersensitivity to the active substances, their derivatives, and other components of the preparation - Alcohol consumption during treatment or within 3 days after the course completion - Disulfiram intake during treatment or within two weeks after the course completion - First trimester of pregnancy - Trichomonal vaginitis in the first trimester of pregnancy - Porphyria; epilepsy; severe liver dysfunction.
