What is it?

Name - Glucostop 1000mg #28tabs glass Use Glucostop contains metformin, a medicine for treating diabetes mellitus. It belongs to the biguanide group. Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas that helps your body take up glucose (sugar) from your blood. Your body uses glucose for energy or stores it for future use. In diabetes, your pancreas does not produce enough insulin or your body cannot use the insulin it produces properly. This leads to high levels of glucose in your blood. Glucostop helps to lower blood glucose levels towards normal. Long-term use of Glucostop also helps overweight adults reduce the risk of diabetes complications. Glucostop is associated with weight stability or moderate weight loss. Glucostop is used to treat patients with type 2 diabetes (also called non-insulin-dependent diabetes) when diet and exercise alone are not enough to control blood glucose levels. The preparation is used especially in overweight patients. Adults can take Glucostop on its own or together with other diabetes medicines (oral medications or insulin). Children and adolescents aged 10 years and older can take Glucostop on its own or together with insulin. Contraindications The preparation should not be used in the following cases: ● Allergy to metformin or any of the other ingredients of this preparation (listed in the composition); ● Liver problems; ● Sharp decrease in kidney function; ● Uncontrolled diabetes, for example, with severe hyperglycemia (high blood glucose level), nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rapid weight loss, lactic acidosis (see "Risk of lactic acidosis" below) or ketoacidosis. Ketoacidosis is a condition in which ketone bodies accumulate in the blood and can lead to diabetic pre-coma. Symptoms include stomach pain, rapid and deep breathing, drowsiness, or an unusual fruity smell on the breath; ● Dehydration of the body, for example, due to prolonged or severe diarrhea, or repeated vomiting. Dehydration can lead to kidney problems, which creates a risk of lactic acidosis (see "Warnings and precautions" below); ● Severe infection, including an infection affecting the lungs or bronchial system or kidneys. Severe infections can lead to kidney problems, which can be a cause of lactic acidosis (see "Warnings and precautions"); ● Treatment of acute heart failure or a recent heart attack, severe circulatory problems (such as shock) or difficulty breathing. In such cases, a decrease in oxygen supply to the tissues is expected, which may be a cause of lactic acidosis (see "Warnings and precautions"); ● Consumption of large amounts of alcohol. If any of the above apply to you, consult your doctor before taking the preparation. Be sure to consult your doctor for advice if: ● You are to undergo an examination, such as an X-ray or scan, which involves injecting iodine-containing contrast agents into your bloodstream; Recommended dosage Children and adolescents aged 10 years and older usually start with 500 mg or 850 mg of metformin once a day. The maximum daily dose is 2000 mg, which should be divided into 2 or 3 doses. Treatment of children aged 10 to 12 years is recommended only on the advice of a doctor, as experience in this age group is limited. Adults usually start with 500 mg or 850 mg of metformin twice or three times a day. The maximum daily dose is 3000 mg divided into 3 doses
