What is it?
International Nonproprietary Name - extractum hedereae helices Clinical-pharmacological group: Pulmonology → Mucolytics and antitussives → Mucolytics and expectorants Composition Active substance: 5 ml of syrup contains Ivy leaf extract DAC (2.2_ 2.9:1) _ 40mg; Excipients: Macrogolglycerol hydroxystearate, Anise oil, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Sorbitol 70% solution, Propylene glycol, Glycerin, Purified water. Indications Acute and chronic infectious-inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract, accompanied by the formation of sticky and viscous bronchial secretions or/and difficulty in expectoration - Acute, chronic bronchitis - Tracheobronchitis - Bronchial asthma - Bronchiectatic disease. Dosage and Administration Hedelix® cough syrup is taken undiluted. For young children, it is recommended to take Hedelix diluted with tea or fruit juice. The duration of use depends on the type and severity of the disease, but even in mild forms of respiratory tract diseases, treatment should not exceed one week. For a long-lasting therapeutic effect, treatment with the preparation is continued for 2-3 days after the disappearance of the disease symptoms. If your doctor has not prescribed a different dosage, Hedelix is taken 3-4 times a day. The table below shows the use of the preparation for different age groups. Side Effects Patients with hypersensitivity to the preparation may develop gastrointestinal disturbances, manifested as nausea and vomiting, as well as diarrhea. In case of any adverse effects, consult a doctor! Contraindications The preparation should not be used if hypersensitivity (allergies) to ivy extract or any component of the preparation is known. Also, in case of argininosuccinate synthetase deficiency (a disease caused by a disorder of the urea cycle metabolism). Hedelix cough syrup should not be taken in case of hereditary fructose intolerance. Pregnancy and Lactation Hedelix cough syrup is not used during pregnancy and lactation. Note for Diabetics: Hedelix syrup can be used by diabetic patients. 5 ml of syrup contains 1.75g of sorbitol (equivalent to 0.44g of fructose), which corresponds to approximately 0.15 BE. Sorbitol may have a mild laxative effect.
