Composition and Dosage Form: Granules for preparation of oral solution: in sachets. 10 pcs. in a pack. 1 sachet L-ORNITHINE L-ASPARTATE............ 3 g Concentrate for preparation of infusion solution: in ampoules of 10 ml, 10 pcs. in a pack. 1 ml 1 amp. L-ORNITHINE L-ASPARTATE .......... 500 mg 5 g Pharmacological Properties: Hepa-Merz reduces elevated ammonia levels in the body. L-ornithine participates in the ornithine cycle and promotes ammonia detoxification by forming urea. L-aspartate activates glutamine synthetase and ensures the conversion of ionized ammonia into non-toxic glutamine, not only in perivenous hepatocytes but also in the brain and muscles. The preparation promotes the production of insulin and somatotropic hormone. Improves protein metabolism in patients on parenteral nutrition. Indications: Acute and chronic liver diseases with hyperazotemia: hepatitis, cirrhosis, fatty dystrophy. Hepatic encephalopathy: manifest and latent (including during consciousness disorders - precoma and coma - in complex therapy). Dosage and Administration: 1 sachet (granules) dissolved in 200 g of liquid (water, tea, or juice) 1-3 times a day after meals. Daily intravenous dose: 1-4 ampoules dissolved in 500 ml of infusion solution, maximum rate 5 g/h. It is not allowed to dissolve more than 6 ampoules in 500 ml. Maximum daily dose 8 ampoules. Side Effects: Rarely allergic skin reactions, nausea, and vomiting. Contraindications: Renal failure, plasma creatinine level above 3 mg/100 ml. Pregnancy and Lactation: During pregnancy, use only under strict medical supervision. When prescribing the drug during lactation, breastfeeding should be discontinued. Special Instructions: Administer with caution to individuals whose work requires maximum concentration and rapid psychomotor reactions. In case of nausea and vomiting during intravenous infusion of Hepa-Merz, the infusion rate should be reduced. Storage Conditions: Store the preparation at a temperature not exceeding 250C.
