What is it?
International Name - permethrin Clinical-Pharmacological Group: Antiparasitic Agents → Pediculosis Treatment Agents Permethrin is an insecticidal shampoo for the treatment of head lice and nits. It is recommended for adults and children over 5 years of age. After using the shampoo, comb the hair with a fine-toothed comb. Repeated use is possible after 7-10 days, but no more than twice a month. Permethrin is the active ingredient in the shampoo, which is not absorbed into the systemic circulation. - Permethrin is for external use only. - A characteristic symptom of head lice infestation is itching of the scalp and black lice on the collar or pillow. - If one member of the family has this problem, all family members should be examined. A lice comb and magnifying glass are needed for examination. Permethrin should only be used by patients with lice and nits. Family members who do not have lice should comb their hair with a lice comb to ensure they do not have them. Lice are mainly transmitted through direct contact. To avoid re-infestation, the source of transmission must be found. If all family members are affected, each should be treated with this product. Lice, like other insects, can develop resistance to the product. Inadequate or prophylactic treatment can lead to the development of lice resistance to permethrin. Lack of effect may be due to incorrect treatment, re-infestation, or lice resistance to the product. Therefore, attention should be paid to the dosage. Please note that lice may not disappear immediately after treatment, which does not mean that the lice are resistant; it simply takes some time after treatment to eliminate the lice. A Simple Step to Eliminate Lice and Nits Step 1: Wet the hair with warm water. If you prefer, wash your hair with a regular shampoo. In this case, do not use hair conditioner or a combined shampoo + conditioner product. Shampoos with low pH are also not recommended. Towel dry the hair. The hair should be damp, but not wet. Step 2: Shake the shampoo before use. Part the hair and start from one side of the head. Apply the product along the parted hair and gently massage. Complete this process by massaging the entire head. It is very important to massage into the hair roots. Pay special attention to the area behind the ears and the nape of the neck. Also, ensure that it is applied to all the hair. If the hair dries out during this process, re-wet it with water. Step 3: Wait 10-15 minutes for the product to take effect. Rinse the hair thoroughly with water and then dry with a clean towel, so that the hair is damp but not too wet. Step 4: Remove lice and nits by combing with a special hair comb. To do this, divide the hair into 4 sections and dry each section separately. If you have long hair, this process will take longer. Start from the top of the head. Take a section of hair 4-5 cm wide with one hand, place the comb as close to the scalp as possible, and comb with rough, even strokes from the scalp to the full length of the hair. Our Recommendation: - After removing lice and nits, use a hair clip to secure all treated sections of hair. Clean the comb thoroughly and comb the new section of hair. Remove nits from the comb with a tissue, which should be placed in a nylon bag after use, sealed well, and discarded far away to prevent re-infestation. - After combing the hair, check the entire head for nits and re-comb if necessary. - Check your head daily to ensure you no longer have nits. Side Effects That May Occur with Shampoo Use Itching and rash may occur in rare cases.
