What is it?

IBUVIT D3 4000 IU, soft capsules Cholecalciferol Before taking the preparation, it is necessary to read the instructions for use carefully, as it contains important information for the patient. This preparation should always be used exactly as described in the instructions for use, or as recommended by a doctor or pharmacist. The instructions should be kept, as it may be necessary to re-read them. For additional information or consultation, consult the treating doctor or pharmacist who advised the patient to take this preparation. In case of any side effects, including any possible side reactions not listed in these instructions for use, it is imperative to inform the treating doctor or pharmacist. If the condition does not improve or worsens, it is necessary to consult a doctor. Composition: The active substance of the preparation is cholecalciferol. Each capsule contains 100 mcg of cholecalciferol, which is equivalent to 4000 IU of vitamin D. Excipients: Capsule content: Purified rapeseed oil; Capsule shell composition: Gelatin, Glycerin, Purified water, Medium-chain triglycerides of fatty acids. Indication: IBUVIT D3 4000 IU contains cholecalciferol, which is identical to vitamin D produced in the human body. Vitamin D is found in some foods and is also produced in the skin upon exposure to sunlight. Vitamin D increases calcium absorption from the intestines and reduces its excretion by the kidneys, which contributes to bone mineralization. Vitamin D deficiency is the cause of rickets (disorder of bone mineralization in children) and osteomalacia (insufficient bone mineralization in adults). The preparation IBUVIT D3 4000 IU is indicated in the following cases: Prevention of vitamin D deficiency and conditions caused by vitamin D deficiency in obese adults (body mass index (BMI) greater than or equal to 30). Vitamin D preparations should be taken prophylactically during months when there is insufficient exposure to sunlight (October to April). During periods of sufficient sunlight exposure (May to September), the intake of vitamin D preparations should be avoided. In Poland, sufficient sunlight exposure is possible only during the summer months (May to September), with a minimum of 15 minutes of sun exposure between 10:00 and 15:00, with exposed shoulders and legs, without the use of sunscreen with UV filters. Vitamin D deficiency is defined as a serum concentration of 25-hydroxycholecalciferol (25(OH)D) less than 20 ng/mL (less than 50 nmol/L); the target concentration for optimal vitamin D action is 30-50 ng/mL (75-125 nmol/L). Vitamin D deficiency may be observed in cases where the patient lives at high geographical latitudes (above 35 degrees), when the diet or lifestyle does not allow for sufficient provision of vitamin D to the body (individuals who spend most of their time indoors or work at night), or when the body's demand for vitamin D increases (pregnant women, patients with excess body weight or obesity). Determination of whether body weight is normal is possible using the so-called body mass index (BMI). This indicator allows for the assessment of the proportionality of a person's body mass and height. A normal BMI is 18.5 – 25. A person is considered obese when their BMI is 30 or more.
