What is it?

Inofolic® phD Inofolic® pHD is a food supplement with Diosgenin, Alpha-lactalbumin, and Vitamin D, useful for providing an additional contribution of nutrients contained within it, in cases of reduced intake from food or increased body requirements. Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is an endocrinological and often metabolic pathology found in women of reproductive age. Based on the presence or absence of manifestations such as oligo/anovulation, hyperandrogenism, and ovarian cysts, four phenotypes may emerge in the diagnosis of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS): A, B, C, D. Women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome with phenotype D are characterized by polycystic ovaries and oligo/anovulation, while signs of hyperandrogenism are absent. Clinical data have shown that women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome with phenotype D are characterized by altered levels of estrogen and progesterone. Recent scientific studies have shown how the overproduction of Insulin-like Growth Factor type 1 (IGF-1) is involved in the alteration of follicle maturation and how insufficient progesterone levels reduce the expression of IGF-binding protein-1 (IGFBP-1), thus hindering correct follicle maturation, accompanied by the formation of ovarian cysts. What physiological role does Diosgenin play? Diosgenin is the most important active ingredient of Dioscorea villosa, also known as Wild Yam, belonging to the Dioscoreaceae family. Scientific studies highlight its role in managing the body's response to various hormones, such as progesterone and estrogen. The action of both these hormones is altered in women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome with phenotype D, where excessive estrogen production can alter the physiological ovulatory process and menstrual cycle. Supplementation with Dioscorea villosa may be useful as an adjunct for women with phenotype D. What physiological role does Alpha-lactalbumin play? Alpha-lactalbumin is a whey protein. Several scientific studies have shown the important role of Alpha-lactalbumin in promoting the biodiversity of the intestinal microbiota, often altered in women with PCOS, thanks to its prebiotic effect; furthermore, it can improve the intestinal absorption of some substances. This property is fundamental when combined with Vitamin D, as it acts as a carrier, improving its absorption. What physiological role does Vitamin D play? Vitamin D plays a major role in human reproductive function, contributing to the luteal phase of the ovarian cycle. Various scientific evidence has shown that Vitamin D can alter the sensitivity to Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH), promoting the luteinization process of granulosa cells, which is altered in women with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome with phenotype D. Vitamin D plays an important role in the production and release of progesterone. Clinical data have shown a positive correlation between progesterone levels and the correct development and maturation of follicles. Vitamin D participates in the cell division process and contributes to the normal functioning of the immune system. How is Inofolic® phD taken? It is recommended to take 2 tablets per day. Inofolic® phD Composition: Dioscorea (Dioscorea villosa L.) rhizome extract with 20% Diosgenin; Alpha-lactalbumin and Vitamin D (Cholecalciferol).
