Properties

What is it?

1 ml of solution for injection contains 5 mg of Vinpocetine. A complete list of excipients is included in section 6.1. Pharmaceutical form Solution for injection. A colorless or slightly greenish, clear solution. Clinical particulars Therapeutic indications Neurology: For the treatment of cerebrovascular pathology of various forms: post-stroke conditions, vertebrobasilar insufficiency, vascular dementia, cerebral atherosclerosis, post-traumatic and hypertensive encephalopathy. It helps to alleviate psychic and neurological symptoms in cerebrovascular pathology. Ophthalmology: For the treatment of chronic vascular pathology of the choroid (vascular layer of the eye) and retina (e.g., thrombosis, obstruction of the central artery or vein of the retina). Otolaryngology: For the treatment of age-related hearing loss in acute vascular pathology, toxic (medicinal) or other origin damage (idiopathic, noise-induced), Meniere's disease and tinnitus. Dosage and method of administration The preparation can only be administered by slow intravenous drip infusion! (infusion rate should not exceed a maximum of 80 drops/minute!). For drip infusion, the initial daily dose is usually 20 mg in 500 ml of infusion solution. This dose can be increased to 1 mg/kg body weight per day, over 2-3 days, depending on the patient's tolerance to the preparation. The average duration of the course of therapy is 10-14 days, usually the daily dose is 50 mg/day (50 mg in 500 ml of infusion solution) – calculated for a body weight of 70 kg. Patients with kidney or liver diseases do not require any special dose adjustment. The preparation cannot be administered intramuscularly, nor intravenously without dilution! After completing the course of infusion therapy, it is recommended to continue therapy with the tablet form of the preparation according to the following scheme: 1 tablet Cavinton Forte or 2 tablets Cavinton 3 times a day (10 mg 3 times). Injectable Cavinton can be diluted with any type of physiological solution or glucose infusion solution (e.g., Salsol, Ringer's, Rindex, Reomakrodex). The infusion solution should be used within 3 hours of preparation. The use of Cavinton injections in children is contraindicated (see section 4.3). Contraindications Acute phase of hemorrhagic cerebral stroke, severe ischemic heart disease, severe forms of arrhythmia. Pregnancy, lactation. Hypersensitivity to the active substance or any of the excipients. The use of the preparation in children is contraindicated (due to the lack of data from relevant clinical studies). Storage conditions Store at temperatures between +15°C and +25°C, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children
