What is it?
Name - Keratosept Eye Drops 5% 10ml vial Physical and Chemical Properties The preparation is transparent and colorless; Mixes with lacrimal fluid in all proportions; Has a defined pH, viscosity, is perfectly compatible with eye tissues and lacrimal fluid, therefore it has a high degree of compatibility. Action Keratosept is a sterile aqueous solution, a hydrogel, which contains: Polyvinyl alcohol – with lubricating, moisturizing, viscous-elastic, mucoadhesive, protective action; Dexpanthenol – belongs to the class of B group vitamins, a homolog of pantothenic acid, a tissue nutrient, with protective action on the epithelium; Hexamidine diisethionate, polyhexanide hydrochloride and disodium edetate (antiseptics) and other excipients used for instillation on eye tissues. Thanks to the properties of its constituent components, Keratosept is effective as an adjunct in the process of corneal re-epithelialization, after stress caused by contact lenses, conditioning, solar radiation, artificial lighting or radiation from devices (computer, TV and phone screens). Thus, Keratosept stabilizes the tear film and protects the eye surface in all cases of tear film dysfunction, including recurrent eye infections. The presence of an antiseptic gives the ophthalmic solution sterility, even after the first opening of the bottle, and protects eye tissues from irritation and polluted environmental conditions such as exhaust fumes, smoke, dust and polluted air; it soothes damaged tissues. The concentration of polyvinyl alcohol in the preparation (1.25%) has been appropriately studied to give the solution characteristics similar to the ocular mucous membrane and an effective adhesive, lubricating, moisturizing, protective action without blurring vision. The hydrogel ensures prolonged action of the components on the ocular mucous membrane, which contributes to the nourishing-vitamin effect for re-epithelialization. Among the excipients is methylsulfonylmethane, a substance containing biologically active sulfur. It does not exhibit any specific pharmacological action but facilitates the absorption of dexpanthenol due to the activation of cellular permeability. Dosage and Administration Instill 1-2 drops of Keratosept into the eye by gently pressing the vial. If necessary, Keratosept can be instilled 2-3 or more times a day. Precautions Given the absence of quaternary ammonium salts, Keratosept can also be used by wearers of soft and rigid contact lenses; - Do not touch the eye with the tip of the dropper; - Do not use during active eye infections; - Do not use simultaneously with other eye drops: (when using with other eye drops, a time interval must be maintained between instillations.) - Do not use if there is incompatibility with any component of the preparation; - Do not use the product after the expiry date indicated on the packaging; - The preparation should be used within 30 days of the first opening of the bottle. Storage Store below 25°C. Store in a safe place out of reach of children.
