Properties

What is it?

International Nonproprietary Name - Oestradiolum+dienogestum Pharmacological group: Sex hormones and their antagonists Pharmacotherapeutic group: Sex hormones and modulators of the reproductive system. Hormonal contraceptives for systemic use. Progestogens and estrogens (fixed combinations). Indications for use: Oral contraception. Treatment of heavy and/or prolonged menstrual bleeding in women without organic pathology who require oral contraception. The decision to prescribe Claira should be made taking into account the woman's existing individual risk factors, including those associated with the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE). Furthermore, the risk of VTE should be compared between taking Claira and other combined oral contraceptives. Method of administration and dosage: For oral administration, independent of food intake. Tablets should be taken as indicated on the packaging, every day, at approximately the same time, with water or other liquid if necessary. Tablets are taken continuously. One tablet should be taken per day for 28 consecutive days. Each new pack is started after the last tablet of the previous calendar pack has been taken. Menstruation-like bleeding usually begins during the intake of the last tablets of the calendar pack and may not end before the start of the next calendar pack. Some women experience menstruation-like bleeding after taking the first tablets of a new calendar pack. Missed tablets: If (white) inactive tablets are missed, they can be disregarded. However, they must be discarded to avoid unintentionally increasing the interval between active tablet intake. Adverse reactions: Brief description of the safety profile. When taking Claira as an oral contraceptive, or for the treatment of heavy menstrual bleeding in women without organic pathology requiring oral contraception, the most common adverse reactions are: acne, breast discomfort, headache, intermenstrual bleeding, nausea, and weight gain. Serious adverse reactions include arterial and venous thromboembolism, which are described in detail in the "Precautions" section.
