What is it?
International Nonproprietary Name - Econazolum The medicine is called Cloritole 150mg Pessary. In the leaflet, it is called "Cloritole". Cloritole is a solid, torpedo-shaped ovule. After insertion into the vagina, it releases a medicine called econazole nitrate. It belongs to the group of "antifungal" medicines. Cloritole is used to treat vaginal and perivaginal skin infections. Infections caused by fungi and yeasts (Candida). Always use the medicine as prescribed by your doctor. If in doubt, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Using the pessary - Always wash your hands before using this medicine. This is especially important during pregnancy. - Insert one pessary into the vagina, before going to bed (this helps it stay in place), for three consecutive days. - Do not swallow the pessary. If you swallow Cloritole If you swallow or ingest the pessary, consult your doctor or the emergency department of the nearest hospital. If you have any further questions about the use of the product, consult your doctor or pharmacist. Possible side effects Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Stop using Cloritole and seek immediate medical attention if you notice the following. You may need urgent medical attention. - Sudden swelling of the face or throat. Blisters (also known as blistering rash or urticaria), severe skin irritation, redness or blisters. These may be signs of a severe allergic reaction (occurs in less than 1 in 10,000 cases). Other side effects: Common side effects (occurs in more than 1 in 100 patients) - Itching of the skin - Burning sensation (on the skin)
