What is it?
Composition: Clobetasol Propionate 0.05%w-w. List of excipients: Liquid Paraffin; White Soft Paraffin; Cetostearyl Alcohol; Methylparaben; Propylparaben; Butylhydroxytoluene; Propylene Glycol; Anhydrous Sodium Phosphate; Sodium Phosphate; Purified Water. Indications: Clobetasol is a potent, topical corticosteroid indicated for the short-term treatment of steroid-responsive dermatoses in adults, the elderly and children over 1 year of age, where inflammation or itching is a feature and other less potent corticosteroids have not been effective. These conditions include: frequent relapsing eczema; psoriasis, other than widespread plaque psoriasis; red flat lichen; discoid lupus erythematosus; other skin diseases resistant to relatively less active steroids. Dosage and method of administration: Method of administration: For topical application. Creams are particularly effective on moist, weeping surfaces. Adults, the elderly and children over 1 year of age: Apply thinly and rub in gently, using the minimum amount of cream necessary to cover the affected area, once or twice daily until improvement occurs (within a few days in responsive cases), then reduce the frequency of application or switch to a less potent preparation. After each application, allow sufficient time for the preparation to be absorbed before applying emollients. Paediatric population: Where possible, treatment with topical corticosteroids should be avoided in children under 12 years of age, as adrenal suppression can occur. Atrophic changes in the skin are more likely to occur in children with the prolonged use of topical corticosteroids. Duration of treatment in children: Treatment courses should not exceed 5 days and weekly review is necessary. Occlusive bandages are not used. Storage: Store below 25C, do not freeze, keep out of reach of children
