Properties

What is it?

Composition: One sachet of Cosmocol Pediatric contains the following active ingredients: Macrogol 3350 6.563g Sodium chloride 0.1754g Sodium bicarbonate 0.0893g Potassium chloride 0.0233g After dissolving the contents of one sachet in a quarter glass of water, each sachet provides: Sodium 65 mmol/L Chloride 53 mmol/L Bicarbonate 17 mmol/L Potassium 5.0 mmol/L This medicinal product contains sodium, which is equivalent to 93.87mg per sachet. Other ingredients: Silicon dioxide, colloidal anhydrous, sodium saccharin, orange flavor, and lemon-lime flavor. Flavors contain sorbitol (E420) and alpha-tocopherol (E307). Indication: Cosmocol Pediatric is a laxative. This medicine is used: to treat chronic constipation in children aged 2-11 years. To treat impaction in children aged 5 years and older. Impaction is chronic constipation where a large amount of stool blocks the rectum and/or colon. Higher doses are recommended for children over 12 years of age. Contraindication: A child should not be given Cosmocol Pediatric if it is known that the child is allergic to Macrogol 3350, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, potassium chloride, or any other ingredient. The child has intestinal obstruction. The intestinal wall is perforated. The child has an acute inflammatory bowel disease, such as ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, or toxic megacolon. Taking Cosmocol Pediatric with food and drink: This medicine can be taken at any time with or without food and drink. Pregnancy and lactation: Cosmocol Pediatric can be taken during pregnancy and lactation. Cosmocol Pediatric contains sodium. Each sachet contains 93.87mg of sodium, which should be taken into account in patients on a sodium-controlled diet. Cosmocol Pediatric contains sorbitol (E420). If it is known that the child cannot tolerate certain types of sugar, consult the treating doctor before taking the medicine. Chronic constipation: The recommended dose is determined by the child's age and response to treatment. In children aged 2-6 years, treatment starts with 1 sachet per day. In children aged 7-11 years, treatment starts with 2 sachets per day. The doctor may increase the number of sachets until the stool softens. If the dose needs to be increased, it should be done daily. Usually, no more than 4 sachets per day are needed. It is not mandatory for the child to take the entire dose at once. If desired, the child can take half the dose in the morning and half in the evening. The child will require long-term treatment for at least 6-12 months. Storage: Store out of reach of children. Do not use after the expiry date indicated on the sachet and box. The expiry date refers to the last day of the given month. Store Cosmocol Pediatric at a temperature not exceeding 25C. If the medicine is dissolved in water and the child cannot drink the prepared solution immediately, it should be covered and stored in the refrigerator (2-8C). The solution should be discarded if not used within 24 hours
