What is it?
Composition: Each 5 ml of the preparation contains the following active ingredients: Levomenthol 4 mg, Squill solution 0.6 ml, Liquorice liquid extract 0.125 ml. Excipients: Peppermint oil, Anise oil, Capsicum solution, Sucrose, Liquid glucose, Magnesium aluminum silicate, Sodium methyl, ethyl and propyl parahydroxybenzoates (E215, E219), Glycerol (E422), Caramel (E150), Purified water. Pharmacotherapeutic group: Expectorant. Indications: Productive cough, bronchitis. Relieves symptoms of chesty cough and sore throat. Dosage and method of administration: Adults, elderly and children over 12 years of age: Take 1 or 2 full 5 ml spoonfuls every 4 hours as needed. Children aged 5-12 years: 5 ml full spoonful every 4 hours as needed. Not indicated for children under 5 years of age unless specifically recommended by a doctor. If symptoms persist or worsen, consult your doctor. Side effects: Allergic reactions such as dermatitis, skin rash, flushing and skin swelling accompanied by itching. High levels of sodium and water in the body. Low levels of potassium in the blood, muscle weakness, scattered thoughts, disorientation, irregular heartbeat. If any side effects develop, treatment should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation, any type of heart, liver and kidney disease, respiratory system disorder, increased intracranial pressure, alcoholism. Interaction with other drugs: Consult a doctor if the patient is taking carbenoxolone for stomach ulcers or medications that promote fluid excretion from the body - diuretics. Special instructions: Contains 7.7% v/v ethanol, i.e., approximately 600 mg per 10 ml, equivalent to 15 ml of beer or 6 ml of wine per dose. Harmful for patients with alcoholism. To be considered for children, pregnant women and high-risk patients such as those with liver disease or epilepsy. Contains glucose and sucrose. Each 5 ml contains 1.53 g of sucrose. To be considered for diabetic patients. If the patient has any type of sugar intolerance, they should consult their doctor before taking the medication. Contains sodium methyl, sodium ethyl and sodium propyl parahydroxybenzoates (E215, E219) which may cause allergic reactions. Do not exceed the recommended dose. Pregnancy and lactation: If the patient is pregnant, planning to become pregnant or is breastfeeding, she should consult her doctor before taking the medication. Overdose: In case of overdose, seek immediate medical attention. Appearance and packaging: Covonia Expectorant Mixture with Menthol is a brown, cloudy liquid with a menthol and anise scent. Packaged in a 150 ml bottle. Storage conditions: Store out of reach of children, at a temperature not exceeding 25C. Expiry date: Indicated on the packaging.
