What is it?

Composition: Active ingredients: Chlorhexidine gluconate 0.2% w.v, Lidocaine hydrochloride 0.05% w.v. Excipients: Citric acid (E 330), Glycerol (E 422), Saccharin sodium (E 954), Menthol, Eucalyptol, Ethanol and Purified water. Pharmacotherapeutic group: Local anesthetic. Indications: Sore throat and symptoms of irritation in adults, the elderly, and children over 12 years of age. Dosage and method of administration: Do not allow the medication to come into contact with the eyes. The tube must be rotated. The spray head should be directed towards the back of the throat and the spray button should be pressed. After each use, the tube should be lowered to close the spray. If the spray head becomes blocked after several uses, the pump will not work correctly. To resolve this problem, the spray tube must be removed and cleaned in a bowl filled with hot water for several minutes. After the tube has dried, it can be placed back on the canister. Dosage in adults, elderly patients, and children over 12 years of age: 3-5 sprays per dose. Administer 6-10 times per day. Side effects: Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat; rash, redness, and itching; wheezing or difficulty breathing; feeling of fainting or dizziness; metallic taste in the mouth; collapse, allergic reaction. Other side effects: Increased skin sensitivity. Temporary discoloration of teeth and tongue. Burning sensation on the tongue. Taste disturbances. Swelling of the salivary glands. Contraindications: Under 12 years of age, hypersensitivity to chlorhexidine gluconate, any component of the preparation, any other local anesthetic, difficulty swallowing. Interactions with other drugs: Consult a doctor if the patient is taking: Beta-blockers or other heart medications, such as propranolol, mexiletine; cimetidine, diuretics. Phenytoin or other barbiturates. Special instructions: Consult a doctor if the sore throat persists for more than 2 days, the patient has a high temperature, has a history of allergic reactions, the sore throat is severe, accompanied by headache, nausea, or vomiting. Covonia throat spray rarely causes allergic reactions, which can be preceded by a sharp drop in blood pressure and even loss of consciousness. Early signs of a severe allergic reaction may include skin rash and asthma. If these symptoms are noticed, the use of Covonia throat spray should be discontinued and a doctor should be consulted immediately. The medication contains 42.5% ethanol, which corresponds to 0.85 ml of beer, 0.35 ml of wine per dose. Harmful to patients with alcoholism. To be considered for pregnant and breastfeeding women, children, and high-risk groups, particularly patients with liver disease or epilepsy.
