What is it?
Composition: Each milliliter of solution contains 100 mg of Povidone-iodine as an active substance. Excipients are: Glycerol (E-422), Polyoxyethylene alkyl ether phosphate, Disodium sulfate, Citric acid, Sodium hydroxide, and Purified water, c.s. Pharmacotherapeutic group: Antiseptic. Indications: Antiseptic treatment of skin in case of minor injuries, superficial wounds, minor burns or abrasions. Dosage and method of administration: Follow the instructions for taking the medication, or the prescription of a doctor or pharmacist precisely. After washing and drying, apply a small amount precisely to the affected area, 2-3 times a day. If symptoms worsen, or persist after 7 days, consult a doctor. Side effects: Skin diseases such as local irritation, itching or burning. In this case, treatment should be discontinued and the affected area should be rinsed with water. If the product is used for a prolonged period or on large wounds and burns, metabolic acidosis, accumulation of large amounts of sodium in the blood, and functional disorders of the kidneys, liver, and thyroid gland may occur. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to the active substance or any other ingredient of the medication, newborns. Interaction with other drugs: Tell your doctor or pharmacist if the patient is taking, has taken, or plans to take any medication, especially other products containing mercury supplements; sodium thiosulfate; lithium. Special instructions: Do not use the medication for a prolonged period or on a large area of skin without consulting a doctor, especially: if the patient has burns on more than 20% of the body surface, if there is a large or open wound on the face, if the patient has kidney, liver or thyroid disease, is being treated with a lithium-containing preparation. Do not heat the product before use. The medication is for external use on the skin only. The preparation should not come into contact with eyes, ears, and other mucous membranes. The medication may affect thyroid function tests, occult blood in stool and urine analysis. Do not use in children under 3 years of age without consulting a doctor. Pregnancy and lactation: If the patient is pregnant, breastfeeding, suspects or plans to become pregnant, consult a doctor or pharmacist before using the medication, as it can cause transient hypothyroidism in the fetus and newborn. Driving and operating other machinery: No effects of the medication on driving and operating other machinery have been described. Overdose: If signs of irritation develop after using more than the recommended amount, rinse the area with plenty of water, discontinue treatment, and consult a doctor for advice. If a large amount of Povidone-iodine is swallowed, abdominal pain, diarrhea, fever, nausea, vomiting, metabolic acidosis, hypernatremia, and kidney, liver, and thyroid dysfunction may develop. If the patient is conscious, they should drink milk every 15 minutes to relieve symptoms of stomach irritation. In addition, to remove residual Povidone-iodine from the stomach, starch solutions should be administered, prepared by adding 15 mg of corn flour, 15 mg of bread flour to 500 ml of water. In case of overdose or accidental ingestion, contact a doctor, pharmacist, or poison control center. Storage conditions: Keep out of reach of children. No special storage conditions are required.
