Name - Lamictal Chewable Tablet 25mg /TR/ #30 Indications Epilepsy in adults: Monotherapy or adjunctive therapy for partial and generalized seizures, including tonic-clonic seizures and seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. Epilepsy in children: Adjunctive therapy for partial and generalized seizures, including tonic-clonic seizures and seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. Dosage and Administration In adults and children aged 12 years and above, who are not taking sodium valproate as monotherapy, the initial dose of lamotrigine is 25 mg once daily for 2 weeks, followed by 50 mg once daily for 2 weeks. Subsequently, the dose should be increased by 50-100 mg every 1-2 weeks until optimal therapeutic effect is achieved. The maintenance dose is 100-200 mg/day in 2 divided doses. Some patients may require up to 500 mg/day. In patients taking sodium valproate, the initial dose of lamotrigine is 25 mg every other day for 2 weeks, followed by 25 mg daily. Subsequently, the dose should be increased by 25-50 mg/day every 1-2 weeks until optimal therapeutic effect is achieved. The maintenance dose is 100-200 mg/day in 1 or 2 divided doses. In patients taking antiepileptic drugs that are inducers of hepatic enzymes, with or without other antiepileptic drugs (excluding valproate), the initial dose is 50 mg once daily for 2 weeks, followed by 100 mg twice daily for 2 weeks. Subsequently, the dose is increased by a maximum of 100 mg every 1-2 weeks until optimal therapeutic effect is observed. The average maintenance dose for optimal therapeutic effect is 200-400 mg/day in 2 divided doses. Some patients may require up to 700 mg/day to achieve the desired effect. In patients taking antiepileptic drugs whose interaction with lamotrigine has not been studied, the same treatment regimen as for the concomitant use of lamotrigine and valproate is recommended. In children aged 2 to 12 years, taking sodium valproate with or without other antiepileptic drugs, the following treatment regimen is recommended: the initial dose of lamotrigine is 0.2 mg/kg once daily for 2 weeks, followed by 0.5 mg/kg once daily for 2 weeks, with subsequent dose increases of 0.5-1 mg/kg every 1-2 weeks until optimal therapeutic effect is achieved. The maintenance dose is 1 to 5 mg/kg per day in 1 or 2 divided doses. The maximum daily dose is 200 mg. In children: Systematic weight monitoring is necessary to achieve optimal therapeutic effect and adjust the dose according to the child's weight.
