What is it?
Name - LAMICTAL CHEWABLE TABLET 50MG /TR/ #30 What is LAMICTAL and what is it used for? LAMICTAL belongs to a group of medicines called antiepileptic drugs. Each side is a white-off white, currant-scented, axis-free, round tablet with slightly angled edges, marked "GSCX7" on one side and "50" on the other. The tablets may be slightly mottled. Each box contains 30 tablets in child-resistant blisters. LAMICTAL is used in the following situations: • For the treatment of epilepsy in children aged 2-12 years, partial seizures and generalized seizures, including tonic-clonic seizures (seizures with convulsions and jerking) and seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome (a specific type of epilepsy characterized by different types of seizures), treated with other medications. Used in conjunction with medications. It can be continued alone once the patient's seizures are controlled. • Used alone for the treatment of epilepsy called typical absence seizures (symmetric seizures with sudden onset and termination) in children aged 2-12 years. • Used alone or with other drugs for the treatment of epilepsy in children over 12 years of age and adults, for partial seizures and generalized seizures, including tonic-clonic seizures and seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome. • Used for the treatment of bipolar disorder (bipolar mood disorder) in adults over 18 years of age. How to use LAMICTAL? Instructions for proper use and dosage/frequency of use: Always use your medicine as directed by your doctor. If you are unsure, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Use for the treatment of epilepsy: Adolescents and adults over 12 years of age: The dose used for epilepsy control is 100 mg to 700 mg per day in one or two doses. When you first start taking LAMICTAL, your doctor will give you a much lower dose and then gradually increase the dose over several weeks. Children aged 2 to 12 years: The dose is calculated based on body weight. The minimum dose is 0.15 – 0.6 mg/kg/day administered once daily or in two divided doses, depending on the medication given with LAMICTAL, it starts at a dose of 0.15 - 0.6 mg/kg/day and can be gradually increased to 1-15 mg/kg/day, divided into 1 or 2 doses per day. In children with typical absence seizure type epilepsy, the dose used in LAMICTAL treatment is 1 mg/kg to 10 mg/kg per day in one or two doses. Use for the treatment of bipolar disorder: Adults over 18 years of age: The dose used for bipolar disorder is 100 mg to 400 mg per day in one or two doses. When you first start taking LAMICTAL, your doctor will give you a much lower dose and then gradually increase the dose over several weeks.
