Medical Use Instructions for Motherwort Tincture Composition: Active substance: Motherwort herb (Leonuri cardiacae herba) (1:5) (extractant - ethanol 70%); 1 vial contains Motherwort herb tincture (Leonuri cardiacae herba) (1:5) (extractant - ethanol 70%) – 25 ml. Excipients: None other than the extractant. Dosage form: Tincture for oral use. Main physical and chemical properties: Greenish-brown transparent liquid. Sediment formation is permissible during storage. Pharmacotherapeutic group: Sedative and hypnotic agents. Pharmacological properties: Pharmacodynamics: The medicinal product has a calming effect. Biologically active substances contained in motherwort herb (steroidal and flavonoid glycosides, essential oil, stachydrine, alkaloid leonurine, saponins, tannins) enhance the inhibition process or reduce the excitation process in the central nervous system. It does not have a hypnotic effect, but it facilitates the onset and deepens physiological sleep. It does not cause habituation or psychological dependence. Pharmacokinetics: Not determined. Clinical indications: Indications: Functional disorders of the cardiovascular system (neurocirculatory dystonia of the hypertonic type), initial stages of arterial hypertension, as well as increased emotional excitability, irritability, mild forms of sleep disturbance. Contraindications: Severe arterial hypotension (low blood pressure), bradycardia. Increased individual hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation. Special precautions: The use of the preparation is not recommended for prolonged periods due to its ethanol content. Interactions with other medicinal products and other types of interactions: Motherwort tincture may enhance the pharmacological effects of sedative, hypnotic, analgesic, antihypertensive drugs, and cardiac glycosides, and also enhances the effect of alcohol. Inform your doctor if you are taking any other medicinal products concurrently. Features of use: Shake before use. Motherwort tincture is a traditional medicinal product for use according to indications, proven by long-term use. Use during pregnancy or lactation: Since the preparation contains ethanol, motherwort tincture should not be taken by women during pregnancy and lactation. Ability to influence reaction speed when driving vehicles or operating other machinery: When using the preparation, refrain from potentially hazardous activities that require increased attention (driving vehicles, operating machinery). Method of administration and dosage: Motherwort tincture is taken orally after meals. Adults are prescribed 30-50 drops of tincture 3-4 times a day. For children aged 12 years and older – 1 drop per year of life. The duration of the treatment course is determined individually for each patient, taking into account the nature and severity of the pathological process, the peculiarities of the disease course, the tolerability of the preparation, and the stability of the achieved therapeutic effect. The patient should consult a doctor if the symptoms of the disease do not disappear during the use of the medicinal product or if any side effects occur. Children: Children under 12 years of age should not use it orally due to its ethanol content. Overdose: Exceeding the recommended doses of the preparation may cause dizziness, drowsiness, and a decrease in blood pressure. In case of overdose, discontinue the use of the preparation and immediately take symptomatic and supportive therapy measures (according to the patient's clinical condition). Increased sensitivity to the preparation may develop. Side effects: In case of individual hypersensitivity to the preparation, local allergic reactions may develop (skin redness and swelling, rash, itching), as well as dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, and decreased mental and physical performance.
