What is it?

International Nonproprietary Name - Ornithine aspartate Composition: One sachet (5g) contains: L-ornithine-L-aspartate hydrate (DAB).....3g Indications for use: Supportive therapy for detoxification in the following acute liver diseases: cirrhosis, chronic hepatitis. Dosage and method of administration: 1. Chronic hepatitis: 1 sachet, 1-2 times per day, after meals, during acute symptoms. 2. Cirrhosis: 2 sachets dissolved in water, 2 times per day, after meals in case of mild symptoms. Precautions: 1. Warning Patients with the hereditary disease phenylketonuria who require phenylalanine control should not take LiverSan powder, as aspartame contained in the medication is metabolized into phenylalanine in the body. 2. LiverSan powder contains Sunset Yellow FCF. Patients with allergies or hypersensitivity to Sunset Yellow FCF should take LiverSan with caution. 3. Patients with acute renal failure (serum creatinine clearance greater than 3mg/100ml) should not take LiverSan powder. 4. Patients allergic to acetylsalicylic acid should consult a doctor, dentist, or pharmacist before taking LiverSan powder, as allergic asthma to acetylsalicylic acid may develop. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to L-ornithine, L-aspartate, or any excipient. Special warnings and precautions for use: Data on use in children are not currently available. Interactions with other medicines and other forms of interaction: Unknown. Pregnancy and lactation: Pregnancy: There are no clinical data on the use of LiverSan powder during pregnancy. No experimental studies on animal reproduction have been conducted. Therefore, the use of LiverSan powder during pregnancy should be avoided. Nevertheless, if the use of LiverSan is necessary, a careful risk/benefit assessment should be made. Lactation: Breastfeeding should be discontinued when using LiverSan powder. Nevertheless, if the use of LiverSan powder is necessary, the risk/benefit should be considered. Effect on ability to drive and use machinery: Driving and operating machinery should be avoided when using L-ornithine L-aspartate. Side effects: Rarely nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, flatulence, and diarrhea, and very rarely limb pain, but generally transient and requiring discontinuation of the preparation. Overdose: Symptomatic therapy is required in case of overdose.
