What is it?
International Nonproprietary Name - meloxicam Clinical-pharmacological group: Anti-inflammatory agents → Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents → Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents for topical use Chemical Name 4-hydroxy-2-methyl-N-(5-methyl-2-thiazolyl)-2H-1,2-benzothiazine-3-carboxamide-1,1-dioxide Dosage Form Rectal suppositories. Description: Pale yellow suppositories, torpedo-shaped with a smooth surface. Composition One suppository contains Active substance: meloxicam 15.0 mg Excipients: macroglycerol hydroxystearate (Kremophor RH40), hard fat (Supocire AM). Pharmacotherapeutic group Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and antirheumatic agents. Indications for use Symptomatic treatment of pain syndrome in osteoarthritis (arthrosis, degenerative joint diseases), rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis. Method of administration and dosage Suppositories are intended for rectal use. Use one LOXIDOL suppository per day (15 mg meloxicam per day). Since the risk of side effects depends on the dose and duration of use, suppositories should be used for the shortest possible time. Contraindications _ Age under 15 years; _ Third trimester of pregnancy and lactation period; _ Peptic ulcer disease of the stomach and duodenum in the acute phase; _ Severe liver failure; _ Severe renal failure (if hemodialysis is not performed); _ Gastrointestinal bleeding, cerebral hemorrhage or any other type of bleeding; _ Proctitis or rectal bleeding in history. LOXIDOL should not be prescribed to patients with hypersensitivity to meloxicam or any other component of the preparation. There is a possibility of cross-sensitization with acetylsalicylic acid and other NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs). Also, the administration of the preparation is not recommended for patients with symptoms of asthma, nasal polyposis, angioneurotic edema or urticaria (associated with the intake of acetylsalicylic acid or other NSAIDs).
