What is it?
Name - Magnaspartate powder for oral solution 243mg sachet #10 Composition: One sachet of Magnaspartate (6.5 g) contains 3246 mg of magnesium aspartate dihydrate; of which ionized magnesium - 243 mg. Magnesium is a cofactor of ATP-ase, which is essential for the proper course of metabolic processes. It activates over 300 enzymes involved in basic life processes. The essential amino acid aspartate in Magnaspartate ensures maximum absorption of magnesium and does not cause irritation of the gastric mucosa (unlike other compounds), but rather protects the gastric mucosa from irritation. Conditions causing magnesium deficiency: Gastrointestinal absorption and metabolic disorders Short bowel syndrome Long-term treatment with proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) Treatment with the following drugs: Diuretics Gentamicin Cyclosporine Foscarnet Amphotericin B Pentamidine Chemotherapy treatment causing magnesium deficiency: With cisplatin With cetuximab Post-organ transplantation conditions Other conditions associated with magnesium deficiency: Diabetes, alcoholism, acute pancreatitis, hyperaldosteronism, post-obstructive diuresis, tubular necrosis, kidney transplantation, intestinal nephropathy, Bartter's syndrome, malabsorption, patients on artificial nutrition without magnesium supplementation. Symptoms of Mg deficiency: Early symptoms include: Fatigue, weakness, insomnia, decreased appetite, nausea. With deepening deficiency: Numbness, muscle contractures, cramps, heart rhythm disturbances and coronary spasm, tremor. Severe deficiency (due to disruption of mineral homeostasis): Hypocalcemia, hypokalemia. Indications: Magnaspartate is used for the treatment and prevention of magnesium deficiency. Dosage: Adults (>18 years): 1 - 2 sachets per day. Children and adolescents (10 – 18 years): 1 sachet per day. Children (4-10 years): one teaspoon of powder dissolved in water/tea or orange juice (109 mg magnesium) or 1 sachet per day (243 mg magnesium). Children (2-4 years): one teaspoon of powder dissolved in water/tea or orange juice (109 mg magnesium) per day. Use during nasogastric, gastric and duodenal feeding: Magnaspartate dissolved in 200ml of water can be used for gastric, duodenal and nasogastric feeding. The Magnaspartate solution should be used immediately after preparation. Magnaspartate dissolved in water, tea or orange juice should be taken immediately after preparation. Magnaspartate is well tolerated and there is no data on overdose. The interval between taking Magnaspartate and taking the following medications should be 2-3 hours.
