What Magnorm Genericon is and what it is used for Magnorm Genericon 365 mg effervescent tablets contain magnesium in the form of magnesium oxide and magnesium carbonate as active substances. Magnorm Genericon is used for all forms of magnesium deficiency and associated symptoms that do not require injectable treatment. 2. What you need to know before taking Magnorm Genericon Do not take Magnorm Genericon - if you are allergic to magnesium oxide, magnesium carbonate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine (listed in section 6). - if you have severe kidney function disorders - if you have severe fluid loss from the body (dehydration). - if you are prone to the formation of certain types of urinary stones (calcium, magnesium, ammonium phosphate stones). Warnings and precautions Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Magnorm Genericon if you have mild or moderate kidney function disorders. In this case, special caution is required before taking Magnorm Genericon, as it can lead to magnesium accumulation in the body. Your doctor may regularly check your magnesium levels in your blood. Children and adolescents Magnorm Genericon is not suitable for children and adolescents under 14 years of age due to its high magnesium content. Other medicines and Magnorm Genericon Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking/using, have recently taken/used or might take/use any other medicines. A 3-4 hour interval must be observed between taking Magnorm Genericon and iron-containing preparations, tetracyclines, sodium fluoride, chlorpromazine or digoxin. Pregnancy and breastfeeding Ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant. Magnorm Genericon can be taken during pregnancy and breastfeeding if prescribed by your doctor. Driving and using machines Magnorm Genericon does not affect the ability to drive or operate machinery. Magnorm Genericon contains potassium and sodium. This medicine contains 2.5 mmol (or 97.6 mg) of potassium per dose. This should be taken into account in patients with impaired kidney function or on a potassium-controlled diet. Each effervescent tablet of this medicine contains 107 mg of sodium (the main component of table salt), which is equivalent to 5% of the maximum recommended daily dietary intake of sodium for adults. Magnorm Genericon is sugar-free and therefore suitable for diabetics. 3. How to take Magnorm Genericon Always take this medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. If you are unsure, ask your doctor or pharmacist. Dissolve the effervescent tablet completely in a glass of water and drink immediately. Taking it before meals improves absorption in the body. You must strictly follow the dosage prescribed by your doctor. Unless otherwise prescribed, the following dosage is used: Adults and adolescents over 14 years of age: 1 effervescent tablet once a day The duration of treatment will be determined by your doctor. Patients with kidney function disorders: Careful dose selection is required in patients with mild and moderate kidney function disorders (see "Warnings and precautions"). Magnorm Genericon 365 mg effervescent tablets should not be taken by patients with severe kidney function disorders (creatinine clearance <30 ml/min) (see "Do not take Magnorm Genericon"). If you take more Magnorm Genericon than you should If you take too much, gastrointestinal complaints (diarrhea) and possibly severe fatigue symptoms are expected. Consult your doctor or the emergency department for advice. If you forget to take Magnorm Genericon Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed dose. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any further questions about the use of this medicine. 4. Possible side effects Like all medicines, this medicine may cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Uncommon (in 1 to 100 patients): - Softening of the stool or even diarrhea (can be corrected by reducing the daily dose or temporary discontinuation). Rare (in 1 to 1,000 patients): - Symptoms of fatigue with high doses and prolonged use. This may indicate that an increased concentration of magnesium has already been reached in the blood. Reporting of side effects If you experience any side effects, talk to your doctor or pharmacist. This also applies to any side effects not listed in this package leaflet. By reporting side effects, you can help provide more information about the safety of this medicine. 5. How to store Magnorm Genericon Keep the tube tightly closed to protect the contents from moisture. The cap contains a desiccant silica gel that protects the effervescent tablets from air humidity. Accidental ingestion of the desiccant, even by young children, is safe and does not require any action. Keep out of reach of children. Do not take the medicine after the expiry date indicated on the cardboard box and the bottom of the tube. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Do not dispose of medicines down the drain or in household waste. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines you no longer use. These measures will help protect the environment. 6. What Magnorm Genericon contains and other information What Magnorm Genericon contains: - Active substances: 342 mg magnesium oxide and 670 mg magnesium carbonate (equivalent to 365 mg = 15 mmol magnesium) Magnesium citrate is soluble in water. - Other ingredients: Citric acid, sodium bicarbonate, anhydrous sodium carbonate, potassium bicarbonate, saccharin sodium, sodium cyclamate, sodium chloride, lime and lemon flavor. What Magnorm Genericon looks like and what is in the pack Effervescent tablets. White tablets with a smooth surface. The effervescent tablets are in plastic tubes, 20 and 2 x 15 tablets. Not all pack sizes may be marketed.
