International Nonproprietary Name - Polymyxinum B+Neomycinum+Dexamethasonum Clinical-pharmacological group: Antibacterial and anti-inflammatory combined preparation for topical use in ophthalmology. Composition and dosage form: Eye suspension: in a plastic bottle 5 ml with a dropper. 1 bottle Dexamethasone ....................... 1 mg Neomycin sulfate ............. 3.5 mg Polymyxin B sulfate ............ 6000 IU Preservative - Benzalkonium chloride ............ 0.004% Base - Hydroxypropyl methylcellulose ........... 0.5% Eye ointment: in a tube 3.5 g 1 g Dexamethasone ................................ 1 mg Neomycin sulfate ...................... 3.5 mg Polymyxin B sulfate ................ 6000 IU Preservatives: Methylparaben ......... 0.05% Propylparaben ..... 0.01% Neutral substances: White petrolatum, anhydrous liquid lanolin Indications: Used for inflammatory processes of the eye when combined antimicrobial and glucocorticoid therapy is necessary. Dosage and administration: 1-2 drops in the eye. In acute forms of the disease, instillation can be done every 1 hour. With improvement of the condition, the frequency of drug administration is reduced until its complete withdrawal. For prolonged processes, it is prescribed 4-5 times a day. Ointment is applied 3-4 times a day. Side effects: Allergic reactions - associated with hypersensitivity to the ingredients in the preparation; Increased intraocular pressure, rarely - subcapsular cataract; Delayed wound healing, secondary infections. Contraindications: * Keratitis caused by Herpes simplex; * Certain viral diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva; * Fungal diseases of the eye; * Hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation; * The preparation is strictly contraindicated when removing foreign bodies from the cornea.
