International Nonproprietary Name - levofloxacin Composition: 250 mg tablets: Each tablet contains 250 mg of levofloxacin as the active substance, equivalent to 256.23 mg of levofloxacin hemihydrate. 500 mg tablets: Each tablet contains 500 mg of levofloxacin as the active substance, equivalent to 512.46 mg of levofloxacin hemihydrate. Indications: For the treatment of moderate to severe infections in adults caused by microorganisms susceptible to levofloxacin: Acute sinusitis; Exacerbation of chronic bronchitis; Community-acquired pneumonia; Uncomplicated urinary tract infections; Complicated urinary tract infections, including pyelonephritis; Skin and soft tissue infections. Levofloxacin tablets are taken 1-2 times daily. The dose depends on the type and severity of the infection, as well as the susceptibility of the causative pathogen. Duration of treatment: The duration of treatment depends on the course of the disease. The maximum duration is 14 days. Like other antibiotics, treatment with levofloxacin tablets should be continued for at least 48-72 hours after the patient becomes afebrile or bacterial eradication occurs.
