What is it?
International Nonproprietary Name - ethylmethylhydroxypyridine succinate Clinical-pharmacological group: Metabolic disorders → Agents affecting tissue metabolism → Antioxidant preparations Composition and dosage form: 1 ampoule contains: Active substance - ethylmethylhydroxypyridine succinate _ 100 mg, Excipient - water for injection _ up to 2 ml. Indications: Acute cerebrovascular disorders; Circulatory encephalopathy; Vegetative-vascular dystonia; Mild cognitive impairment of atherosclerotic genesis; Anxious, neurotic, and neurotic-like conditions; Couping of abstinence syndrome with neurotic and vegetative-vascular disorders in alcoholism; Acute intoxication with antipsychotic drugs; Post-chemotherapy period (as part of combination therapy); Acute and chronic ischemic heart disease (as part of combination therapy); Lower limb angiopathy in type II diabetes mellitus (as part of combination therapy); Acute purulent-inflammatory processes of the abdominal cavity (acute pancreatitis, peritonitis) during complex therapy. Dosage and administration: Therapeutic doses and duration of treatment are determined by the patient's sensitivity to the drug. The injection solution is administered intramuscularly or intravenously (bolus or drip). To prepare the infusion solution, the drug should be diluted in an isotonic solution of sodium chloride. Doses are selected individually, depending on the pathology and severity of the patient's condition. The initial dose is 50-100 mg 3 times a day, with a gradual increase in dose until a therapeutic effect is achieved. The maximum daily dose is 800 mg. Bolus injection is administered slowly, over 5-7 minutes; drip infusion - at a rate of 40-60 drops/min. In acute cerebrovascular disorders, it is used in complex therapy for the first 2-4 days intravenously drip at 200-300 mg once a day, then intramuscularly at 100 mg 3 times a day. The duration of the treatment course is 10-14 days. In the decompensation phase of circulatory encephalopathy, it is prescribed intravenously bolus or drip at a dose of 100 mg 2-3 times a day for 14 days, then intramuscularly at 100 mg per day for the next 14 days. To conduct a course of circulatory encephalopathy prophylaxis, the drug is prescribed intramuscularly at a dose of 100 mg twice a day for 10-14 days. In mild cognitive impairment in elderly patients, Mexaron is prescribed intramuscularly at a dose of 100-300 mg per day for 14-30 days. In alcoholic abstinence syndrome, Mexaron is administered intravenously drip at a dose of 100-200 mg 1-2 times a day or intramuscularly 2-3 times a day for 5-7 days. In acute intoxication with antipsychotic drugs, it is administered intravenously at a dose of 50-300 mg per day for 7-14 days. In acute purulent-inflammatory processes of the abdominal cavity (acute necrotizing pancreatitis, peritonitis), it is prescribed on the first day, both in the pre-operative and post-operative periods. The dose of the drug depends on the form and severity of the disease, the spread of the process, and the variants of the clinical course. In acute edematous (interstitial) pancreatitis, 100 mg 3 times a day is prescribed intravenously drip and intramuscularly. In mild forms of necrotizing pancreatitis, Mexaron is prescribed at a dose of 100-200 mg 3 times a day intravenously drip and intramuscularly. In moderate forms of necrotizing pancreatitis - 200 mg 3 times a day intravenously drip. In severe forms of necrotizing pancreatitis - at a dose of 800 mg on the first day in a twice-daily administration regimen. Then - 300 mg twice a day with a gradual decrease in the daily dose.
