Mounjaro ® Solution for Injection 15mg/0.6mL 4 Doses Pen Composition: 15 mg/0.6 mL multi-dose pre-filled pen Mounjaro (tirzepatide) is a prescription medication for adults with type 2 diabetes used to improve blood sugar (glucose) control. The medicine is also used to treat adults with obesity or overweight (BMI of 27 kg/m² or greater) who have weight-related health problems (e.g., prediabetes, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, abnormal blood lipid levels, etc.) It contains tirzepatide, a dual GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist, belonging to a new class of medications called incretin mimetics. Each pen contains four fixed doses of the specified strength, meaning for example: A 15 mg pen contains a total of 60 mg of tirzepatide (4 doses x 15 mg), each at 0.6 mL. Patients inject one dose weekly, so each pen is designed for one month of use. How Mounjaro Works: Mounjaro is the first GIP and GLP-1 receptor agonist that works on glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) receptors and glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptors. Mounjaro lowers blood sugar levels, helps the pancreas produce more insulin, reduces the amount of sugar produced by the liver, and slows down the rate at which food leaves the stomach. This helps prolong the feeling of fullness and can reduce the amount of food consumed. All of this helps to keep blood sugar levels stable throughout the day.
