What is it?

International Nonproprietary Name - tenoxicam Clinical-pharmacological group: Anti-inflammatory agents → Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents → Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents for systemic use → Oxicams Composition 1 vial of the preparation contains Active substance: tenoxicam 20 mg. Excipients: mannitol, disodium edetate, ascorbic acid, trometamol, sodium hydroxide, hydrochloric acid. Solvent: water for injection 2 ml. Pharmacotherapeutic group Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory and antirheumatic drugs. Oxicams. Indications for use Inflammatory-degenerative diseases of the musculoskeletal system accompanied by pain syndrome: - rheumatoid arthritis, gouty arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis (Bechterew's disease); - infectious non-specific polyarthritis; - osteoarthritis, osteochondrosis; - tendinitis, bursitis, myositis, periarthritis; - arthralgia, neuralgia, myalgia, sciatica, lumbago; - injuries, sprains, dislocations, and other soft tissue damage. Dosage and administration For intramuscular or intravenous administration. Administer at a dose of 20 mg once daily. Do not use higher doses, as a more pronounced therapeutic effect is not always achieved, and the risk of side effects increases. For the treatment of acute diseases of the musculoskeletal system, the duration of treatment usually does not exceed 7 days, but in severe cases, it can be up to 14 days. Elderly patients As with other NSAIDs, particular caution is required when using the preparation in elderly patients. Elderly patients are at increased risk of developing serious side effects. They are also more likely to have concomitant diseases, liver, kidney, or cardiovascular failure. If NSAIDs are necessary, the lowest effective dose and the shortest possible duration of treatment should be prescribed. During NSAID therapy, patients should be monitored for gastrointestinal bleeding. Contraindications - Hypersensitivity to tenoxicam or any of the excipients. The medicinal product is also contraindicated in patients who have previously experienced hypersensitivity reactions (symptoms of asthma, rhinitis, angioedema, or urticaria) to other NSAIDs, including ibuprofen and aspirin, due to the potential for cross-sensitivity to tenoxicam; - active peptic ulcer/bleeding, or a history of recurrent peptic ulcer/bleeding (two or more distinct episodes confirming the presence of ulceration or bleeding), ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, severe gastritis, a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or perforation associated with previous NSAID therapy; - severe heart, liver, and kidney failure; - blood diseases; - third trimester of pregnancy.
