What is it?
International Nonproprietary Name - octenidine, phenoxyethanol Clinical-pharmacological group: Antiseptics → Antiseptics for external use Octenisept® Wound Gel is used for acute skin injuries, minor skin injuries, lacerations, and minor burns (including sunburn). For optimal treatment, a sufficient amount of gel should be applied to the wound, as cell division and migration occur only at a defined moisture level, which simultaneously protects the wound from secondary infection. The special formula of Octenisept® Wound Gel moisturizes the wound and creates a protective layer against bacteria, preventing microbes from penetrating the injured area and inactivating them directly within the gel's protective layer. Thus, Octenisept® Wound Gel protects the wound from secondary infection and inflammation, thereby promoting the restoration and acceleration of natural healing processes. Octenisept® Wound Gel is colorless and does not cause burning during application. Dosage and Administration The wound should be disinfected immediately after injury with Octenisept® wound disinfectant. Then, the wound should be covered with a thin layer of gel. If necessary, a dressing can be applied on top. Octenisept® Wound Gel should be applied to the wound 1-2 times a day until complete healing. Hygiene standards must be observed during the use of the gel. The tip of the tube should not touch the wound or the surrounding skin surface. Side Effects No side effects have been reported with the use of Octenisept® Wound Gel. Special Precautions Caution should be exercised when using Octenisept® Gel in individuals with hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients, as allergic reactions may occur. Octenisept® Wound Gel should not be used concurrently with other wound cleansing soaps, ointments, oils, enzymes, or similar agents. It should not be used with iodine-containing agents (PVP-Iodine). Octenisept® Wound Gel is intended for the treatment of acute skin wounds and for external use only. For chronic skin lesions, use sterile wound gel (Octenisept® Wound Gel). The gel should be applied carefully, without excessive pressure on the tissues. It must not be used for injection or infusion, nor should it be swallowed. Use only tubes that are hermetically sealed and undamaged.
