What is it?

International Nonproprietary Name - benzocaine, benzydamine hydrochloride, cetalkonium chloride Clinical-pharmacological group: Otorhinolaryngology → Antimicrobial agents for topical use → Antiseptics → Other combined preparations Composition and dosage form 100ml solution contains: Benzocaine _ 1.5g Benzydamine hydrochloride ----- 0.15g Cetalkonium chloride -------- 0.0413g Additional ingredients: Glycerol 87%, Ethanol 96%, Sodium saccharin, Cherry flavoring, Distilled water. Indications Oronorm spray is indicated for pain and inflammation in the following cases: • Gingivitis • Pharyngitis and tonsillitis • Before and after tonsillectomy, during tooth extraction and other dental procedures. • Inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity and pharynx • Infectious diseases of the oral cavity and pharynx • Ulcers of the oral mucosa. e.g. aphthous ulcers. Oronorm is also used as an oral flavoring agent and a prophylactic antiseptic for cleansing the oral cavity from pathogenic microorganisms. Dosage and administration Shake the can before each use. Adults - 2 sprays every 2-3 hours (but no more than 16 sprays in 24 hours). Children - 1 spray every 2-3 hours (but no more than 8 sprays in 24 hours). Not recommended for elderly patients due to possible difficulty swallowing. Side effects Not established Contraindications Hypersensitivity to any component of the preparation. Special instructions Avoid spraying into the eyes. It is not advisable to eat for 1 hour after using the preparation. This is especially important for children and elderly patients. It is not recommended to eat or chew gum when the oral cavity is anesthetized (anesthesia of the tongue and mucosa may cause oral trauma during chewing).
