What is it?
International Nonproprietary Name - Paroticin is Paroticin and what it is used for Paroticin contains fludrocortisone acetate, which is a corticosteroid and acts as an anti-inflammatory, polymyxin B sulfate, which is an antibiotic, and lidocaine hydrochloride, which is a local anesthetic. Paroticin is indicated for the treatment of ear infections and microbial infections. What you need to know before using Paroticin Do not take Paroticin - - if you are allergic to fludrocortisone acetate, polymyxin B sulfate, lidocaine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients of this medicine. - if you have chickenpox (varicella). - if you have vaccinia or herpes simplex. - during infectious diseases that are not controlled and antibiotic therapy is not carried out. - during vaccination. - if you have severe kidney disease. Warnings and precautions Do not use Paroticin ear drops for more than 10 days. • If the inflammation does not subside after one week, consult your doctor, who may suggest a change in treatment. • When using the medicinal product, the dropper should not come into contact with skin, ear, and hands to avoid the risk of infection. • After instilling the ear drops, you should lie down for 5 minutes. • If local irritation or allergic reaction develops during the use of the product, if you have blurred vision or other visual disturbances, consult your doctor. Other medicines and Paroticin The effect of the preparation may change when used with other preparations. Before starting treatment with Paroticin, inform your doctor if you are taking other medications, e.g. other antibiotics (kanamycin, streptomycin, gentamicin, paromomycin), chloramphenicol, tetracycline, sulfonamides or trimethoprim. Pregnancy and breastfeeding If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine. Do not use Paroticin without consulting your doctor. Consult your doctor before starting lactation. Method of use: The dose should be selected individually according to the patient's needs. The usual dose is as follows: Adults-elderly: 2-4 drops in the ear canal, 3-4 times a day. Children: 2-3 drops in the ear canal, 3-4 times a day. Before instilling the drops, the ear canal should be cleaned with sterile cotton wool to keep the canal dry. Also, it is necessary to keep the head constantly tilted with the treated ear upwards and lie down for at least 5 minutes after instillation. An alternative way to administer Paroticin is to place a plug in the ear canal and soak it with drops 3-4 times a day. The plug should be changed at least once every 24 hours. If you have any further questions about the use of this medicine, ask your doctor, pharmacist or nurse. Side effects Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Prolonged local use of ear drops can cause hypersensitivity reactions or other undesirable effects; in this case, you should inform your doctor immediately. Possible undesirable effects include the following: • Suppression of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis, decreased plasma cortisol levels, Cushing's syndrome. • After prolonged local use: development of microbial and fungal local infections, delayed wound healing, atrophy and striae, local hypersensitivity, local hirsutism, acne or vesiculation, couperose, hypopigmentation, perioral dermatitis. • Severe vertigo caused by instillation of lidocaine and adrenaline into the middle ear has been reported. • Polymyxin, due to its poor absorption, does not cause systemic reactions when used on intact skin, except for rare cases of allergy. • Blurred vision (frequency unknown) Storage conditions Keep this medicine out of the reach of children. Do not store above 25°C. Store in a dark and dry place.
