What is it?
International Name - PROPAFENONE Clinical-Pharmacological Group: Antiarrhythmic Agent Composition and Dosage Form: Coated Tablets: 50 pcs. in a pack 1 tab. Propafenone hydrochloride .......... 150 mg Indications: Prophylaxis and treatment of ventricular and supraventricular extrasystoles, paroxysmal cardiac rhythm disorders, atrial fibrillation or flutter, Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, ventricular tachycardia. Dosage and Administration: The dose of the preparation is individual and requires correction. When taken orally, the initial dose of the preparation is 450 mg divided into 3 doses per day. After 3-4 days, the dose can be increased to 675 mg or 900 mg per day. Tablets should be taken after meals with a small amount of water. Dose adjustment depends on the effectiveness of the preparation, not its plasma concentration. Electrocardiographic monitoring is required at the beginning of treatment. Side Effects: Gastrointestinal tract: decreased appetite, nausea, vomiting, bitter taste and numbness in the oral cavity, feeling of heaviness in the epigastric region, anorexia. Cardiovascular system: development of bradycardia, sinoatrial, atrioventricular, and intraventricular conduction disturbances are possible. Orthostatic hypotension develops when taking high doses of the preparation. Nervous system and sensory organs: visual disturbances, dizziness, headache, sleep disturbances, restlessness, extrapyramidal disorders. Rarely observed: skin rash, decreased liver function, leukopenia, agranulocytosis, thrombocytopenia, oligospermia, arrhythmogenic effect. Contraindications: * Hypersensitivity to the preparation; * Severe forms of chronic heart failure; * Cardiogenic shock (except for that caused by arrhythmia); * Severely pronounced bradycardia; * Processes accompanied by sinoatrial, atrioventricular, and intraventricular conduction disturbances; * Sick sinus syndrome; * Electrolyte imbalance; * Severe obstructive pulmonary diseases; * Severely pronounced arterial hypotension; * Myasthenia gravis; * Pregnancy; * Childhood. Pregnancy and Lactation: * During lactation, if the preparation is necessary, breastfeeding should be discontinued.
