What is it?
International Name - Extr.Hedera Dosage Form: Cough Syrup Composition: 100 ml solution contains 0.7 g of dry extract of ivy leaves as an active substance. Excipients: 0.134 g potassium sorbate, 0.05 g anhydrous citric acid, 0.3 g cherry flavor, (5 ml solution contains 0.963 g sorbitol = 0.08 BE). Pharmacological Properties: The preparation exhibits expectorant, antitussive, and antispasmodic effects. It reduces the viscosity of sputum and promotes its evacuation. Indications: The preparation is used as a symptomatic agent in complex therapy for inflammatory diseases of the upper respiratory tract and lungs. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation. Consult a doctor before using the preparation during pregnancy and lactation. Side Effects: Rarely (in 0.22%) allergic reactions may occur, or sorbitol may cause mild diarrhea. Dosage and Administration: Unless otherwise prescribed, children aged 1 to 6 years should take 1 teaspoon 3 times a day. School-aged children and adolescents should take 2 teaspoons 3 times a day. Adults should take 2-3 teaspoons 3 times a day. Close the cap tightly after each use. For mild forms of the disease, the minimum course of treatment is 1 week. To enhance the therapeutic effect, it is recommended to continue the course for a few days after the disappearance of symptoms. Consult a doctor if adverse effects occur. Special Instructions: Prospan syrup does not contain alcohol, sugar, or dyes. To preserve the therapeutic effect of the ivy leaf extract, 30% ethanol is used during the extraction and drying process, which is completely removed from the extract as an adsorbent.
