Properties

What is it?

International Nonproprietary Name - budesonide Clinical-pharmacological group: Pulmonology → Other agents for respiratory organ diseases → Preparations for the treatment of bronchial asthma → Inhaled glucocorticosteroids • Belongs to a group of medications containing the active substance budesonide, a glucocorticosteroid, used for anti-inflammatory purposes • Budesonide is used to reduce inflammation at all stages of asthma, to widen the airways, to control disease symptoms, and to reduce the need for oral steroids. Separate use in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is not recommended. • Budesonide is intended for inhalation using a nebulizer (inhalation device). When breathing orally or using a face mask, the medication reaches the lungs through inhalation. It should be used regularly as prescribed by your doctor. However, budesonide will not relieve an acute asthma attack. How to use the medication? Instructions for correct use and frequency of dosage/administration The dose of budesonide varies depending on the patient's condition. Follow your doctor's recommendations. These recommendations may differ from the information provided in this leaflet. The medication is used only with the help of a nebulizer. Before starting to use this preparation, make sure you know how to use a nebulizer. When using the medication for the first time, carefully read the instructions for use. Remember: Rinse your mouth with water after each dose. If you are using a face mask, wash your face after each dose. Recommended starting dose: Children 6 months and older: Daily dose 0.25-0.5 mg per day. If the child is receiving cortisone, a higher starting dose may be prescribed. After some time, the doctor can adjust the dose. Up to 1 mg per day can be administered in a single dose. Adults / Elderly: Daily dose 1-2 mg per day. After some time, the doctor can adjust the dose. Up to 1 mg per day can be administered in a single dose. After symptoms improve, the doctor may reduce the dose. Maintenance treatment: Children 6 months and older: Daily dose 0.25-2 mg per day. Adults / Elderly: Daily dose 0.5-4 mg per day. In severe cases, the dose may be increased. You will feel better from the first day of using the medication. However, it takes 2-4 weeks to achieve full effectiveness. Do not stop taking the Cortair dose even if you feel better. If you are still taking "cortisone" tablets and have been prescribed Cortair, your doctor will gradually reduce the tablet dose (over several weeks or months). You may even need to stop taking the tablets. Note: If treatment is changed from cortisone tablets to Cortair, you may temporarily experience symptoms such as runny nose, rash, muscle and joint pain. If any symptom bothers you, or if you develop headache, fatigue, nausea, or vomiting, consult your doctor. Route and method of administration: 1. Before use, ensure that the active substance is dispersed in the liquid by gently shaking the single-dose container. 2. Hold the single-dose container vertically and twist to open the top. 3. Place the opened end into the nebulizer and gently squeeze out the contents. The single-dose container is marked with a line; when inverted, the line indicates a volume of 1 ml. If only 1 ml is needed, squeeze out the contents of the container until the liquid level reaches the level indicated by the line. The opened single dose should be stored in a place protected from light.
