What is it?

International Nonproprietary Name - levodropropizine Clinical-pharmacological group: Pulmonology → Mucolytics and antitussives → Antitussives Levodropropizine is an isomer of dropropizine. It acts on histamine and alpha-adrenergic receptors and does not bind to beta-adrenergic, muscarinic, or opiate receptors. Indications: Allergic and infectious-inflammatory diseases of the respiratory tract: • Dry, non-productive cough • Pharyngitis, laryngitis, tracheitis, tracheobronchitis • Bronchial asthma • Chronic obstructive bronchitis • Pulmonary emphysema • Cough with ACE inhibitor intake Rapitus efficacy and advantages: - Rapid reduction in cough intensity - Less frequent awakenings at night - Maintenance of daytime activity - Less pronounced sedative effect - Additional anti-inflammatory action Dosage and administration regimen: Rapitus should be taken 1 hour before meals or 2 hours after meals. The interval between doses should be 6 hours. Age group 2-5 years old 10-20 kg 1 mg/kg (2–3 ml) 3 times a day 5-12 years old 21-30 kg 5 ml 3 times a day Over 12 years old 30 kg and above 10 ml 3 times a day The duration of treatment is determined by the doctor and should not exceed 7 days. If symptoms do not disappear within 4-5 days, treatment should be discontinued. Side effects: Rarely, allergic skin reactions. Tachycardia, heartburn, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, dizziness, headache. Contraindications: Levodropropizine is contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to any component of the preparation. Levodropropizine should not be used in patients with bronchial hypersecretion and impaired mucociliary function (Kartagener's syndrome or ciliary dyskinesia), as well as in patients with severe liver and kidney failure. Levodropropizine is not used during pregnancy and lactation.
