What is it?
International Nonproprietary Name - rebamipide Clinical-pharmacological group: Gastroenterology, Hepatology → Anti-ulcer agents Composition Rebamipide 100 mg tablets Pharmacological properties Pharmacodynamics: Rebamipide increases the content of endogenous prostaglandins PGE2 and PGI2 in gastric juice, as well as in the gastric mucosa, thereby providing protection of the mucous membrane from aggressive factors. Rebamipide has a cytoprotective effect, improves blood circulation in the gastric mucosa, and stimulates cell proliferation. Rebamipide increases the amount of gastric surface mucus; it does not affect basal secretion. Pharmacokinetics After oral administration of 100 mg rebamipide, maximum plasma concentration is reached in 2 hours. The half-life is 1.5 hours. The drug does not accumulate in the human body; 90% is bound to proteins, and 10% is excreted unchanged in the urine. Indications Gastric and duodenal ulcer disease; Chronic gastritis in the stage of exacerbation; Erosive gastritis; Non-ulcer dyspepsia; Prevention of gastric mucosal damage during the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs; Dosage and administration 1 tablet 3 times a day (not related to meals), course of treatment 2–4 weeks (2–8 weeks for gastric ulcer). Side effects Very rarely, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, taste disturbance, increased liver enzymes. Contraindications Hypersensitivity to rebamipide, malignant gastric disease, pregnancy and lactation. Special instructions The drug is not prescribed for children under 14 years of age; the use of mucogen in children has not been established by studies.
