What is it?

International Nonproprietary Name - Acidum Tranexamicum Pharmacological group: Antihemorrhagic and hemostatic agents Pharmacotherapeutic group: Antifibrinolytic agent Composition: Each tablet or 5 ml ampoule contains 500 mg of Tranexamic Acid Clinical pharmacology: Tranexamic acid is an antifibrinolytic drug that inhibits the activation of plasminogen to plasmin. Tranexamic acid stabilizes fibrin structures, as severe or recurrent bleeding develops as a result of defective fibrin formation or too rapid fibrinolysis, and this is achieved by preventing the final breakdown of hemostatic fibrin by plasmin. In addition, tranexamic acid increases collagen synthesis and granulation tissue, possibly by maintaining the fibrin matrix. Indications: Prevention of bleeding after surgery or trauma: - Tooth extraction in patients with hemophilia; - Cervical conization; - Tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy; - Prostate surgery; - Eye trauma; - Dental surgery in patients taking anticoagulants. Prevention of recurrence of subarachnoid hemorrhage. Treatment of primary or intrauterine device-induced menorrhagia. Prevention of spontaneous or postoperative corneal edema. Treatment of hereditary and non-hereditary angioedema. Prevention of bleeding in acute promyelocytic leukemia. Prevention of bleeding after cardiac shunting. Side effects: Tranexamic acid is characterized by good tolerability. It can cause gastrointestinal disturbances (such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea) and hypotension, especially after rapid intravenous administration. Dosage: Tranexamic acid is administered orally and by slow intravenous injection or continuous infusion. After a few days, injection is usually replaced by oral administration. Dosage in adults: Oral dose - 1-15 g (or 15-25 mg/kg) 2-4 times a day. Slow intravenous injection - 0.5-1 g (or 10-15 mg/kg) 3 times a day. Continuous intravenous infusion at a rate of 25-50 mg/kg per day. Dosage in children: 15-25 mg/kg orally or 10 mg/kg intravenously, usually twice a day. Dosage form: Tablets 500 mg, Ampoules 500 mg. Preparations should be stored out of reach of children.
