International Name - L-Selenomethionine Composition: One tablet contains: Selenium L-methionine 200 mcg Excipients: Magnesium stearate, sodium glycolate, talc, colloidal silicon dioxide, microcrystalline cellulose, hydroxypropyl methylcellulose, hydroxypropyl cellulose, titanium dioxide, PEG – 6000. Pharmacological Properties and Mechanism of Action: Selenium L-methionine is organic selenium - the most easily absorbed form for the body. Selenium is part of up to two hundred enzymes and hormones. Selenium is a powerful antioxidant. Selenium is involved in the synthesis of glutathione peroxidase (the most important antioxidant in the body). Selenium protects DNA structure, controls normal cell division, and prevents the formation of tumor cells. One of the important functions of selenium is the normalization of thyroid gland function. Selenium is crucial for the synthesis of thyroid hormones. Thyroxine is converted to its active form, triiodothyronine, with the participation of selenium-dependent monodeiodinase. Selenium protects the thyroid gland from the harmful effects of free radicals (significantly improves the quality of life in patients with Graves' disease, reduces the severity of orbitopathy, significantly reduces Anti-TPO levels in Hashimoto's disease). Selenium protects the heart muscle from the harmful effects of heavy metals, removes heavy metals from the body, promotes oxygen supply to the heart muscle, ensures the physiological course of metabolism, stimulates nail and hair growth, and slows down the aging process.
