Pharmacological action: Flaxseed has emollient, anti-inflammatory, and mild laxative effects. Flaxseed mucilage coats the gastrointestinal mucosa and prevents fat absorption, stimulates intestinal peristalsis, and regulates metabolism. Flaxseed aids in rapid weight loss, strengthens immunity, rejuvenates the entire body, improves skin condition, and regulates the digestive system. Used as a laxative, emollient, and anti-inflammatory agent for enterocolitis, colitis, gastritis, inflammation of the respiratory tract mucosa, and intoxications. Preparation method Preparation method: Add 1 tsp of raw material to one glass (1:30) of boiling water, cover the vessel, and simmer for 15 minutes over low heat with periodic stirring. It is best to prepare the decoction in the evening and let it steep until morning, covered. Strain the resulting mucilage through a double layer of gauze. Dosage and administration: Take 1/4 cup 3 times a day, 30 minutes before meals. Course of treatment – 2-3 weeks. It is advisable to consult a doctor before using the preparation. • To achieve a laxative and emollient effect, the following recipe must be used: Pour 1 cup of boiling water over 2 tablespoons of flaxseed and let it steep for 10 minutes. Take 1/2 cup before meals. Such a decoction is effective for diseases of the digestive tract. Using the preparation as a laxative requires simultaneous intake of large amounts of fluid. • With the same proportions and scheme, only in ground form, flaxseed is used to prepare a decoction for the treatment of cardiovascular diseases. Flaxseed can be used whole or ground. It is added to salads, porridges, dairy products, pies, or mixed with honey or jam in a 1:1 ratio. The recommended daily dose of flaxseed is from 5g to 50g. For the desired therapeutic effect, flaxseed is recommended for use for several weeks. Contraindications: • Hypersensitivity to the preparation, • Dyspeptic symptoms (diarrhea), • Exacerbation of cholecystitis. Taking flaxseed is strictly contraindicated in intestinal obstruction, acute and chronic cholecystitis, especially during exacerbation. It is also not allowed to consume more than 1 tablespoon per day, as it contains a large amount of flaxseed oil and unpleasant sensations may occur in the liver area. Side effects: In individual cases, meteorism, diarrhea, nausea, allergic reactions may occur during the intake of the preparation. The use of flaxseed as a laxative without sufficient fluid intake can cause ileus (intestinal obstruction). Interactions with other drugs: When taken simultaneously with other preparations, it reduces their absorption. Pregnancy and lactation: Use during pregnancy and lactation is not recommended.
