What is it?

International Nonproprietary Name - Sulfadiazine,Silver saltSilvaderm CreamSilvaderm AerosolDosage Form:Silvaderm is used for: 2nd-3rd degree burns, varicose ulcers, bedsoresAerosol for external use, Cream for external use, Ointment for external useMechanism of Action:External sulfonamide preparation. Silvaderm has broad-spectrum antibacterial activity, covering almost all microorganisms that infect burn wounds: Escherichia coli, Proteus spp., Staphylococcus spp., Klebsiella spp., and is also sensitive to certain types of fungi and yeasts. It reduces the activity of SH-containing enzymes in microbial cells. When applied to damaged skin, it dissociates, releasing silver and sulfonamide ions, the concentration of which is sufficient to suppress the growth of causative microorganisms without damaging healthy cells. It penetrates necrotic tissue, evaporates minimally from the wound surface, has no unpleasant odor, and is easily washed off with water.Indications:Infected superficial wounds and burns with low exudation, bedsores, trophic and long-healing ulcers (including pressure sores), skin lesions, excoriations, skin graft dressings.Contraindications:Hypersensitivity, bone marrow suppression, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency, renal/hepatic insufficiency, porphyria, pregnancy, newborns up to 1 month old, deep purulent wounds and burns with significant exudation.Side Effects:Burning, itching, brownish-gray skin discoloration, allergic skin reactions (rash, photosensitization), and with prolonged use on large wound areas - systemic side effects (leukopenia, headache, dyspepsia).Dosage and Administration:Externally. Adults and children over 1 month old: After cleaning the affected surface, apply a 1-2 mm thick layer of ointment or cream 1-2 times a day. For large skin areas, cover the affected surface with a sterile dressing after applying the ointment 1-2 times a day. Pain is minimal when changing dressings. Before each subsequent dressing, the previous ointment layer should be removed mechanically and with sterile water and antiseptic. The maximum dose of ointment is 0.3 g. Aerosol is used for treating newly grafted mesh grafts, as well as for treating burn wounds after washing off or initial treatment of the ointment. The use of aerosol is justified as its spray reaches hard-to-reach areas and the method of application to the wound surface is less traumatic. Silvaderm has a clearly expressed analgesic effect compared to other analogues, as shown by clinical practice.Special Instructions:In patients with renal or hepatic insufficiency, constant monitoring of sulfonamide concentration in plasma is necessary. Silver salts darken when exposed to heat and sunlight, so the ointment should be stored in a dark, closed container away from heat. Body parts treated with the ointment should be protected from sunlight.Laboratory Aldo-union, s.a. Baronesa de Malda,73 08950 ESPLUGUES DE LL (barcelona ) Espana
