What CARSIL® FORTE is and what it is used for CARSIL® FORTE is a medicinal product containing the active substance silymarin, obtained by extraction from the fruits of the milk thistle. Silymarin activates the synthesis of proteins and phospholipids in damaged liver cells, stabilizes their cell membranes, and binds free radicals (antioxidant effect). Its main action is to protect liver cells from the effects of various harmful factors such as alcohol, medicinal products, viral infections, and industrial pollution. In case of liver cell damage, silymarin promotes their rapid regeneration. CARSIL® FORTE is used for toxic liver damage, as maintenance therapy for chronic inflammatory liver diseases; for fatty liver degeneration; in complex treatment of liver cirrhosis, for the prevention of liver damage during prolonged use of medicinal products, alcohol, and in chronic intoxication (including occupational). Before you take CARSIL® FORTE Do not take CARSIL® FORTE - if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to the active substance or any of the other ingredients of CARSIL® FORTE; - in children under 12 years of age. Take special care with CARSIL® FORTE - if you have a disease accompanied by hormonal disorders (such as tumors of the uterus, ovaries or mammary glands, prostate tumors) you must consult your doctor before starting treatment with CARSIL® FORTE hard capsules. - Treatment with CARSIL® FORTE hard capsules does not replace diet or abstinence from alcohol in case of liver damage. Taking other medicines Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken, or might take any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription. CARSIL® FORTE may reduce the effectiveness of oral contraceptives and medicinal products used for hormone replacement therapy. When used simultaneously, it may enhance the effects of diazepam, alprazolam, ketoconazole, lovastatin, atorvastatin, vinblastine. Pregnancy and breastfeeding Before taking any medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, CARSIL® FORTE can be used only if medically indicated and if the benefit to the mother outweighs the risk to the fetus. Driving and using machinery CARSIL® FORTE does not affect the ability to drive or operate machinery. Important information about some ingredients of CARSIL® FORTE - The medicinal product contains wheat starch. It is not a risk for people with celiac disease. Patients with wheat allergy (which is different from celiac disease) should not take this medicinal product. - CARSIL® FORTE contains lactose monohydrate. If your doctor has told you that you have an intolerance to some sugars, consult your doctor before taking this medicinal product. 3. How to take CARSIL® FORTE Always take CARSIL® FORTE exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you are unsure about anything, ask your doctor or pharmacist. CARSIL® FORTE hard capsules should be taken orally with a sufficient amount of water. Adults and children over 12 years of age: Initial dose in severe cases – 1 capsule 3 times a day. In mild cases and as a maintenance dose – 1 capsule 2 times a day. For the prevention of chronic intoxication – 1-2 capsules per day. Children under 12 years of age: There is no data on the safety of the medicinal product's use, therefore its use in children under 12 years of age is not recommended. There is no data on the effect of the medicinal product in patients with kidney failure and in the elderly. If your symptoms persist, consult your doctor. The duration of the treatment course is determined by the treating physician. If you take more CARSIL® FORTE than you should If you have taken more than the prescribed dose, consult your doctor. If you miss a dose of CARSIL® FORTE If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. If it is time for the next dose, take it as usual. Do not take a double dose to compensate for a missed dose. Continue taking the medicinal product as prescribed. If you have any further questions about the use of this medicine, ask your doctor or pharmacist. 4. Possible side effects Like all medicines, CARSIL® FORTE hard capsules can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. CARSIL® FORTE hard capsules are well tolerated. Very rarely (less than 1 in 10,000 patients) allergic skin reactions such as itching and rash, or anaphylactic shock (a severe allergic reaction with difficulty breathing and dizziness) may occur. Rarely (less than 1 in 1,000 patients) existing vestibular disorders may be aggravated. In rare cases, diarrhea and nausea, vomiting, dyspeptic disorders with gas formation, decreased appetite may develop. If any of the side effects becomes serious, or if you notice any side effects not listed in this leaflet, tell your doctor or pharmacist. 5. How to store CARSIL® FORTE No special storage conditions are required. Keep out of reach of children. Do not use CARSIL® FORTE after the expiry date indicated on the packaging. The expiry date refers to the last day of that month. Do not dispose of the medicinal product down the drain or in household waste containers. Ask your pharmacist how to dispose of medicines you no longer use. These measures will help protect the environment. 6. Further information What CARSIL® FORTE contains Active substance: dry extract of milk thistle fruits (Silybi mariani fructus extractum siccum) (35-50:1) – 163.6-225.0 mg, equivalent to 90 mg of silymarin, in the form of silybin. Excipients: lactose monohydrate, microcrystalline cellulose, wheat starch, povidone, polysorbate 80; colloidal anhydrous silica; mannitol, crospovidone, sodium bicarbonate, magnesium stearate. Capsule shell composition: gelatin, titanium dioxide (E171), black iron oxide (E172), red iron oxide (E172), yellow iron oxide (E172). What CARSIL® FORTE looks like and contents of the pack Hard cylindrical gelatin capsule #0, light brown in color. 6 (six) hard capsules in a PVC/aluminum foil blister, 5 (five) blisters in a cardboard box with instructions. При повреждении клеток печени силимарин способствует их быстрому восстановлению. КАРСИЛ® ФОРТЕ применяется при токсических поражениях печени, в качестве поддерживающей терапии при хронических воспалительных заболеваниях печени; при жировой дегенерации печени; в комплексном лечении цирроза печени, для профилактики поражения печени при длительном применении лекарственных средств, алкоголя, при хронических интоксикациях (в том числе профессиональных). Перед началом применения КАРСИЛ® ФОРТЕ Не применяйте КАРСИЛ® ФОРТЕ - если у вас аллергия (гиперчувствительность) на активное вещество или на любые другие компоненты препарата; - у детей младше 12 лет. Соблюдайте особую осторожность при применении КАРСИЛ® ФОРТЕ - если у вас заболевание, сопровождающееся гормональными нарушениями (например, опухоли матки, яичников или молочных желез, опухоли предстательной железы) вы обязательно должны проконсультироваться с лечащим врачом до начала лечения твердыми капсулами КАРСИЛ® ФОРТЕ. - Лечение твердыми капсулами КАРСИЛ® ФОРТЕ не заменяет диету или отказ от употребления алкоголя при поражении печени. Применение других лекарственных средств Сообщите своему врачу или фармацевту, если вы принимаете или недавно принимали другие лекарственные средства, включая те, которые отпускаются без рецепта. КАРСИЛ® ФОРТЕ может ослаблять эффективность пероральных контрацептивов и лекарственных препаратов, используемых для заместительной гормональной терапии. Если вы пропустили прием КАРСИЛ® ФОРТЕ Если вы пропустили одну дозу, примите ее как можно скорее. Если приближается время приема следующей дозы, примите ее как обычно. Не принимайте двойную дозу, чтобы компенсировать пропущенную. Продолжайте принимать препарат в соответствии с назначением. Возможные побочные эффекты Как и все лекарственные средства, твердые капсулы КАРСИЛ® ФОРТЕ могут вызывать побочные эффекты, хотя они возникают не у всех. Срок годности относится к последнему дню указанного месяца. Препарат не следует выбрасывать в канализацию или бытовые контейнеры для мусора.
