What is it?
International Nonproprietary Name - Algedrate+Magnesium hydroxide+Simethicone Dosage Form: Oral Suspension Composition: Each 5 ml of suspension contains: Active Ingredients: Aluminum hydroxide dry gel – 405 mg Magnesium hydroxide – 100 mg Simethicone – 125 mg Excipients: Anhydrous citric acid, garden mint oil, mannitol, sodium methylparaben, sodium propylparaben, sodium saccharinate, sorbitol 70% solution, 95% ethanol, purified water. Description: The preparation is a white suspension with a pleasant taste. Pharmacotherapeutic Group: Antacid combination preparation with an optimal ratio of aluminum and magnesium and an anti-flatulence component. Indications: Diseases of the gastrointestinal tract with increased and normal secretory function, accompanied by meteorism (increased gas formation in the intestines): Dyspepsia (discomfort and/or pain in the epigastric region, heartburn, belching, nausea, vomiting, abdominal bloating); Gastric and duodenal ulcer disease; Acute gastritis, chronic gastritis in the exacerbation phase; Chronic superficial gastritis, chronic atrophic gastritis; Gastric and duodenal erosion; peptic ulcer; diaphragmatic hernia; Reflux esophagitis, duodenogastric reflux; Toxic gastroenteritis and colitis; Chronic cholecystitis; Postcholecystectomy syndrome; Gallstone disease (cholelithiasis); Chronic pancreatitis (including alcoholic etiology). Simelgel is also used for dyspepsia caused by improper diet, excessive consumption of alcohol, coffee, and nicotine. Contraindications: Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation, severe renal impairment, age under 10 years. Use with caution: In patients with liver and central nervous system diseases, alcoholism and epilepsy, during pregnancy. Warning: Shake the suspension well before use! It is not recommended to take more than 60 ml of the preparation per day. The interval between Simelgel and other preparations should be 1-2 hours. Use with caution in patients with impaired renal function and elderly patients under the supervision of a doctor. During prolonged intake of the preparation, it is recommended to ensure the body is supplied with phosphorus-rich food. Dosage and Administration: Oral suspension. Adults are prescribed Simelgel 10 ml 4 times a day, 30 minutes before meals or 1-1.5 hours after meals. To avoid dilution of the preparation, it is not desirable to consume any liquid for half an hour after taking the preparation. For better distribution of the preparation on the gastric mucosa, it is recommended to lie down after taking Simelgel and change sides several times, every 2 minutes. In case of reflux esophagitis, the preparation is taken shortly after meals. For episodic use (discomfort caused by improper diet), 10 ml is used once. In children over 10 years of age, the dosage is determined by the attending physician (usually, 1/2 of the adult dose is prescribed). Interactions with other drugs: The administration of Simelgel with isoniazid, tetracycline group antibiotics, quinidine, indomethacin, furosemide, barbiturates, and digoxin leads to a weakening of the therapeutic effect of the preparation. Side effects: In case of impaired renal excretory function, an increase in aluminum and magnesium concentration in the blood is possible. In elderly patients, exacerbation of bone and joint diseases may occur. In rare cases – disturbance of taste sensation, nausea, allergic reactions.
