Solgar - Calcium '600' + Vit D3 Composition: 2 tablets contain: Calcium (Calcium Carbonate from Oyster Shell) – 1200mg Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) – 600 IU Sodium - 15mg Calcium Almost 99% of calcium in the body is concentrated in bones and teeth. Together with D3, it ensures the maintenance of bone health at any age. Calcium is responsible for bone mineralization and hormone production, which helps maintain normal levels of calcium and phosphorus in bones and blood. Calcium normalizes energy metabolism and neurotransmission, and is also a regulatory component of blood clotting. Calcium stimulates the release of calcitonin, which ensures the transport of calcium from the blood to damaged bone tissue. Calcium, together with D3, helps maintain mineral balance in women during postmenopause and reduces the risk of osteoporosis development. Calcium deficiency causes muscle spasms, which manifest as cramps in the lower extremities. Prolonged deficiency leads to rickets and osteomalacia.
