What is it?
International Nonproprietary Name - FERROUS SULFATE; ASCORBIC ACID Active Substance: Ferrous Sulfate + Ascorbic Acid Clinical-Pharmacological Group: Anti-anemic preparation. Composition and Dosage Form: Coated tablets: 30 and 50 pcs. per pack. 1 tab. Ferrous Sulfate ................ 320 mg of which Iron .............. 100 mg Ascorbic Acid .............. 60 mg Excipients: Povidone, Polyethylene powder, Carbomer 934P, Magnesium stearate, Hard paraffin, Hypromellose Macrogol 6000, Titanium dioxide, Iron yellow oxide. Indications: Iron deficiency anemia, iron deficiency, for prophylaxis during pregnancy and in blood donors. Dosage and Administration: Adults and adolescents: 1 tablet in the morning and evening. For patients with iron deficiency anemia, the dose can be increased to 3-4 tablets per day, divided into two doses (morning and evening), as needed. During pregnancy: Prophylaxis: 1 tablet per day. Therapeutic dose: 1 tablet in the morning and evening. The tablet must not be divided or chewed. The tablet should be swallowed whole with at least half a glass of liquid. Tablets must not be given to patients in a horizontal position. Treatment should be continued until optimal hemoglobin levels are reached. Further treatment for depot replenishment may be required for another 2 months. Individual long-term therapy (continuous or intermittent) is often indicated for patients with significant regular iron loss (e.g., during heavy menstruation). Contraindications: * Esophageal stenosis and/or obstructive changes in the digestive tract; * Hypersensitivity to the active or any inactive ingredient of the preparation; * Hemochromatosis; Pregnancy and Lactation: Sorbifer Durules can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Special Instructions: ♦ Iron preparations can cause poisoning in children. ♦ Taking iron preparations may cause darkening of the stool. Driving and Operating Machinery: Sorbifer Durules does not affect the ability to drive or operate machinery, or the effect is negligible.
