Properties

What is it?

International Nonproprietary Name - Latanoprostum Composition: 1 ml of the preparation contains active substance: Latanoprost 0.05 mg. One drop contains approximately 1.5 micrograms of Latanoprost. Excipients: Disodium phosphate dodecahydrate, sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, sodium chloride, purified water. Description: Clear, colorless solution. Pharmacotherapeutic group: Anti-glaucoma agent – synthetic analogue of prostaglandin F2-alpha. Dosage and administration Dosage regimen in adults (including elderly) One drop in the affected eye once a day. Optimal effect is achieved when the preparation is used in the evening. Do not instill the preparation more than once, as it has been shown that more frequent use reduces the hypotensive effect. If a dose is missed, treatment should be continued according to the usual schedule. As with any eye drops, to reduce possible systemic effects of the preparation, immediately after instilling each drop, press on the lower punctum lacrimale, located in the inner corner of the lower eyelid, for 1 minute. This procedure should be performed immediately after instillation. Remove contact lenses before instillation and reinsert them 15 minutes after instillation (see also section "Special Instructions"). If several ophthalmic medicinal products are used simultaneously, they should be administered at 5-minute intervals. Dosage regimen in children Latanoprost is used in children at the same dose as in adults. Data on premature infants (gestational age) Side effects: Most adverse reactions were observed in the organ of vision. In a 5-year open safety study, 33% developed iris pigmentation (see section "Special Instructions"). Other adverse reactions in the organ of vision are usually transient and occur immediately after instillation. Adverse reactions are graded by frequency of occurrence as follows: very common (>1/10); common (>1/100, <1/10), uncommon (>1/1000, <1/100), rare (>1/10000, <1/1000) and very rare (<1/10000). Frequency unknown (frequency cannot be estimated from available data). Infections and infestations Frequency unknown: herpetic keratitis. Organ of vision. Very common: iris hyperchromia, conjunctival hyperemia, moderate eye irritation (burning sensation, gritty sensation, itching, stinging and foreign body sensation), eyelash changes (increased length, thickness, number, and pigmentation). Common: transient punctate epithelial erosions (predominantly asymptomatic), blepharitis, eye pain.
